so if it didn't have the hole? I was looking at some pics in marble mania that were labeled scenic china, which is where I got the term.

Found this today out on the hunt. I believe it is called a scenic China, and was intended for the heads of canes, hence the hole.

Yup. I am assuming they just weren't labeled or were put in the boxes later, but I can't find any info to confirm either way.

If they are dug, then they could be cold roll marks or other defects. As far as the maker, any thoughts on cac? I thought I saw a crease mark in one pick, but that could be something else

I think this box says "Samples experiments moonstone in color"

They had samples for both. There was also a box of glass bottle caps, but I didn't get that box.

There were 2 clear red marbles in the box, one light and one dark. These were probably used for industrial purposes of some kind. There is another box that is just color samples, and these are more oddball shapes

They were in a plastic bag, hand written, but it didn't seem old. Maybe these were an attempt to recreate pearlized patches more recently?
