  1. Here is a letter in one of the sample boxes. The samples mentioned in the letter are there too
  2. These were in a bag labeled pearlized peerless patches
  3. I'm gonna put up some more picks tomorrow (and a few sales :-)) but I have to say, I have never seen or heard about a black pearlized peerless patch
  4. So while I'm getting the pics ready, here is the story. I met someone today at an estate sale when I was asking a worker if they had any marbles. The person I met said that they had a bunch of old marbles because they used to work for someone who at one time owned part of the peltier glass company. Needless to say, I was blown away by what i saw when I got there. There was a mix of old, new, samples, boxes, etc. Lucky for me they were attached to the new stuff, which was awesome by the way - Betty boxes, second run boxes, etc. I now have the coolest peltier collection in socal.....stay tuned for pics.
  5. Left handed. I can use my right some as well, but not completely ambidextrous
  6. Meeting with someone later today that could be a huge marble score. I will add details later but I am just so excited if this turns out to be what I was told.
  7. I think it's curiosity mostly. I know the bag isn't old, but I really want to learn (seeing definitely helps) what kind of marbles come in these types of bags, so I can better evaluate them in the future. I was thinking that since I have 2, I can open one and put the other in my collection, knowing what it contains.
  8. Not all flowers are put in water. Maybe for dried flowers or man made flower like things. Maybe it originally had that weird green foam stuff you always see things stuck into.
  9. I have read that these bags are new, but I bought them pretty cheap and the marbles look like they could be old. So the question is, should I open them?
  10. I see a lot of stuff made for flowers (stands and such) that look like they can be used for marbles. Maybe this is similar? Perhaps something was put in the bag to weight it, and flowers were put through the openings?
  11. great, now I'm back to square one. Why do people do that then?
  12. There is actually a decent market for vintage razors in this style. I find them often at estate sales. I have tried them myself and they seem to get a slightly closer shave for me, and the lack of whatever strips above the blades, it is better in tough spots.

    Dyed Agate?

So then it would be a carnelian? After steph suggested it I looked at a few pics and they seemed similar to me
  14. That is my first thought, but it is weird looking when I put it with other agates I have. The orange seems to go the whole way through the marble.
  15. Yeah I meant $99. I hate looking for symbols on my phone keyboard. I see it a lot on bulk lots and other items. It's not always that much, but I have seen it on marbles as well. Every time I see something like that, I avoid that seller, no matter how much I want the item. It just screams unscrupulous to me.
  16. I think I figured out why people do this. At first I thought it was to avoid fees, but as I have now learned as a seller, you get charged a fee on shipping too. I am pretty sure people do it to screw people on returns. Only the item price is refunded (I believe) if you return something unless otherwise specified, so if you get ripped off on an auction that was 0.99 + 99 shipping, you would only get back 0.99. I may be wrong, but that is the only logical reason I could think of why people would do this. Thoughts?
  17. I recently sold a gladding-vitro all reds bag for about 13.50. Yours looks to be pre gladding, so I would say 25-50 is right on
  18. I will have to double check, but I don't think it's oxblood, just a darker red. It has a lot of dings on it, so it makes it tougher to tell in the pics
  19. I really like the color combination on this one, very different from the more vibrant colors I'm used to seeing. Measures 3/4"
  20. I bet some kind of auction of the assets will be held, but the best stuff will go straight into private collections or museums
