  1. I am at a store that is selling some hand painted clay marbles said to be from this company. Does anyone know of these?
  2. Lol I got that one already, but have only read a bit so far. I am slowly going down the book list here on the forum so that I can learn as much as I can. I appreciate all the help this forum offers me.
  3. So then what would you call the marble in the picture from the book?
  4. She definitely had some that were made recently, so that's why I was questioning them. I still have so much to learn that I don't want to be quick to judgement on anything and be wrong. I am definitely going to check out that book - after I read the akro book that is coming in the mail today:-)
  5. I took the Blueblood auction down, if anyone knows what that might be, please let me know.
  6. Thanks so much! I will update them now. I thought those were called all red blacklines, but in looking at similar posts, others were calling them blackies.
  7. Got some good stuff for sale this week, a few akros, some vitros, a handmade divided core and a few other nice marbles. Please let me know if you see any errors in my listings, I try to be as accurate as possible but I am still pretty new to marbles. EBay username: sclsuindustries
  8. Also, if it is a true 3 colors, I believe akro would have refered to it as a tri-color onyx (popeyes would be the collectors term)
  9. This is what I refer to as an onyx. This is from "Marbles Identification and Price Guide" 5th ed. It may not be the correct term, but since I am still pretty new, I only use the terms I have seen.
  10. From what I've read, an onyx had the wispy white with one other color. The Popeyes are refered to at times as tricolor onyx
  11. The person had a mix of contemporary and old, but she didn't know enough to say either way which were which. I have read a couple books now on the subject, and picked these one because I had read that newer ribbon cores had ribbons closer to the surface. I was hoping they might be old, but I didn't want to say for sure with my limited knowledge

    Whajuthink?

I have a couple like these that I got with some I have identified as jabos. Could it be jabo as well?
  13. I thought the akro moss agates were patches. I would say it's an ace
  14. Would that be considered a left handed and a right handed twist? Or is that only a thing with hand gathered?
  15. Another question. At what point is it considered cullet? Or is cullet distinct enough that the difference puts them in different categories?
  16. I got a 4th one that seems more contemporary(better condition) and seems different from these 3. It is a latticino core though
  17. Got these 3 yesterday, and while I think they are most likely contemporary, I figured I would get some opinions to see if I am correct. The smallest one looks to be a divided core swirl (solid core with 4 ribbons around it - the red and blue strands have a very slight space off the core) and the other two look to be ribbon core, although the middle sized one could be a divided ribbon, as I can't quite tell if the is a few gaps in the ribbon or it is a thin strand of a light color.
  18. I guess I just wonder because I started with coins and baseball cards, where the errors are usually more valuable
  19. I am sorting through my recent acquisitions and I have found several marbles that seem to be not quite round, like oblong or slightly flattened. I personally think they are less collectible for me, but I'm wondering what other people think.

    Any Ideas?

I read that a lot of Heaton would glow in blacklight, but I don't find anything about them making marbles this size. Both measure 31/32"
  21. I'm glad that everyone thinks it's real. This is my first box so I got pretty excited seeing it
  22. I paid $25, but with all the other boxes being questioned, I figured it never hurts to ask
