  1. Who needs food That "Ghost cork" is wonderful.
  2. I wonder what other styles they produced?
  3. Jeff - you're proving a bad influence on me... My first - just under 17mm, ground pontil and a black filament at it's core:

Yes - I'm a big fan and visited Portmerion a couple of times whilst living in Wales (didn't watch the 're-make'). I am not a number. I'm a free man!
  5. Thanks - yes (a lot easier than taking good shots of pesky marbles )
  6. Bogard appear to have been the main supplier of Cats Eyes to Champion for their mixed packs - the unsold packs from their warehouse have a lot of Bogard in them - some of the packs look like Ann's example just with a few Champion clearies mixed in.
  7. I blame you for the dent in my wallet after tracing down an orange Akro cork
  8. Sorting through a few old photos for a screensaver...
  9. I think it's just a different form of mica - mica comes from several minerals
  10. Good to see them. To my eyes the green one is quite Cairo like in some aspects - a useful reminder of how an atypical example of either manufacturer could be confusing!
  11. Champion game marbles for a Canadian company: Copp-Clark. Note the bilingual spelling!
  12. Nice memory As collectors it's easy to dismiss clearies, but they were popular with kids (and as a big kid I personally love the clearie pee-wees ).
  13. Champion Bicentennial bag - probably a late fill one - mainly Champion clearies, a few Champion transparent swirls, game marbles and Bogard cat's and patches:
  14. From another thread added here for reference:
  15. It's a possibility with the box - I'd assumed Camel were a manufacturer rather than distributor. The graphics are identical to the Japanese marked (and Japanese sold) ones. It's suppose it's also possible that the East German's bought empty boxes from Japan. I shouldn't have been be so definite!
  16. Veb werk fur technisches glas Ilmenau I'm guessing 80's for the packaging... Shooter size around 3/4"
  17. Nice - I've got a green one and the bands that separate the opalescent stripe are fairly easy to see but the actual opalescence isn't that obvious without back lighting.
  18. They look more patch/ribbon than swirl to me too. Could the brown be some kind of vitro where the ribbon has finished short?
  19. I wonder whether someone marked it with something for a game?
  20. The Camel box is definitely Japanese and not original to those marbles. I've picked up a bag of them (will try and remember to upload photos) that appears to be from the 1980's so either they were made later than the 50's or they were stockpiled and packaged later. The 'beach-ball' style ones are fun.
  21. As I'd got a couple of 10 count Big Shot's I thought I'd carefully open one: Contents: Most are what I'd describe as 'Marble Kingesque', although there's frequently a gap where the vanes meet. Three variants in this pack: Yellow 'Marble Kingesque' (glows under UV), orange transparent vane and a lighter orange more wavy vane that's more 'vitro-like' with a lighter centre to the vanes darkening towards the tip (possibly more obvious in the previous group shot)
