  1. More bagged Heaton's - common or garden clearies (I like clearies ): If anyone is mad enough to try and identify clearies. The green on these is more intense than my Vitro Aqua Jewels, but the deep blue and clear are pretty much indistinguishable. Similarly lightly bubbled. The yellow ones do show a definite darker tone in a small part of the marble - the colour isn't quite perfectly evenly spread, but this isn't immediately obvious at a quick glance.
  2. Thanks John. I don't get the impression that their are many marble collectors over here - or at least not machine mades, but I may be wrong. I's a wonderfully friendly site.
  3. I've wondered about this one. Looking at auctions on ebay.fr you frequently come across iridescent marbles in lots where the others are clearly vintage - now marbles of different ages do get mixed together, but I wonder whether they were made in Europe earlier than is generally suspected?
  4. Purple/Green are relatively common, I've seen the odd yellow/purple. Yet to see a white red/blue.
  5. Very nice Winnie. That purple colour, particularly when used with yellow or green seems very distinctively Veiligglas.
  6. That is fancy! Great photography too.
  7. I shall keep my eyes open and my fingers ready
  8. Thanks - sounds like my chance of tracking down a copy are beyond slim!
  9. I think you're right - I'd go with 1954ish from the packaging, but I've only just started to try and figure out the packaging dates. What's this Vitro book?
  10. Does anyone know the cross-over periods for Vitro Cats? The plump (I think of them as 'orchid' like) vane type seem to have come in around 1954. I believe the 'finger type' arrived in 1958 - both types were so;d in the packs with a white header and blue text, just as both the blackline all-reds and non-blackline were sold in the white header red-text bags at about the same period. I get the impression from blurry ebay photos that both the fingers and the plump vane were sold concurrently into the 60's (red header Vitro bags) but I don't know how long both styles lasted. I've only seen pictures of the full cage style in Gladding-Vitro bags (70 onwards?) but did they come in any earlier?
  11. Nice swirl! Clunking noises don't always indicate a problem with cameras - some lenses have floating elements which rattle when unpowered.
  12. Edited I'm hoping some Victory will arrive soon. If I was forced to only collect one brand I think I'd have to choose Vitro.
  13. A few Vitro Conquerors. Common but I love them:
  14. A dark one: I love the swirl on this one and thankfully the surface wear isn't that obvious without flash.
