Thanks, Mike! I love me some fire! 😄 Got some fantastic marble mail today! This pretty blue was a surprise freebie and is 5/8"~ Some chocolate!!! Also 5/8"~ And... I'm drooling... 😍😍😍 21/32" Calligraphy~

This pretty little mib was a surprise freebie in some marble mail ~ but no clue on ID! I don't even know who all made completely translucent mibs -- Champion is the only one that comes to my newbie mind, but... I'm sure other companies did too? 19/32" Thanks for looking!
-
Is this under a black light in the pics?
-
I think the translucency in the droplet is because it's a U-shape that has been squished together, just not completely, so there's a tiny little streak of non-ox in the middle of it. That's what it looks like to me, anyway? It sure looks like ox to me. But I'm still a newbie and don't even trust my own IDs yet, LOL. Very pretty marble.
-
I think that would be translucent? Translucent is like between transparent (completely clear) and opaque (completely solid), from what I understand.

I'd like to share my very favorite non-marble eye candy ~ something I've been wearing for just over a year now. Holler if you'd like to see close-ups of any of the 5 different nebulae (all from Hubble pics) on the sleeve. Artist (as noted in upper left corner of pic) was Johnny Andres, at North Main Tattoo Studio in Plymouth, MI.

I was just going to chime in on 3 & 4, attempting my very first ID on someone else's mibs, to say they looked just like a couple Vitro single color cats I have... and Steph beat me to it! But hey, I'm tickled it seems I was right! Here's mine, btw (4 marbles, not multiple shots of single marbles -- with flash on top, no flash on bottom)

Happy New Year ~ I hope 2018 is amazing for everyone! 🎉

Thanks for posting, Mike(Q)! I'm pretty excited, glad to have one so relatively close to me. 4 hrs one way ain't bad! Oooweee, but KS is a 10-11 hr one way drive for me... I doubt I could ever make that one. Not while I have dogs, anyway. 4 hrs, I can drive there & back for 1 or 2 days, still be home to feed my doggos 2x every day.

Haha, it seems impossible for me to focus on one thing right now! I mean, definitely good advice, but there are just so many marbles for a beginner to look at and love... you should see my ebay purchase history over just the past 3 days -- Alley, Akro, Peltier, Vitro, Champion, CAC, MF Christensen!!! A little of everything! But most of those have been small purchases: $2-5 per marble. But a few have been $50-$145 purchases -- 1 Alley, 1 MF Christensen, 3 CACs. OMG I cannot WAIT for these to show up in my mailbox!!! Now I'm eyeing some beautiful Popeyes... lol, yep, lacking that focus!

Haha, well I'm having trouble with my 4x4 truck, so am stuck in my tiny little sub-compact Chevy Sonic that does pretty horrible in the snow. I nearly got stuck a few blocks from my house on the unplowed neighborhood streets about a week ago, lol. So my going totally depends on what my car can handle. I don't think I'll have my truck fixed by then, but maybe...

I know that this can seem like a silly question when worded like that, because of course, everyone's preferences will be different. But I think it would be nice for beginners like me to see a list like this from everybody... to see an amazing variety of beautiful marbles that are your own must-haves! So it's not telling beginners what they must have, lol... it's more like your personal opinion on what marbles you consider to be "must haves" in your collection. What you think is the best in some way, or most beautiful, or rare, etc. In any/all brands (I'm hoping for examples from every brand!) -- I guess I'm personally most interested in hearing about machine mades, but handmade types are welcome too! So, what would your list be? What's your own list of fantastic marbles you think would make a great addition to any collection, that you would say that "Everyone must have"? List as many as you want! I imagine it could be hard to choose, lol. I wonder if there will be a huge variety in the comments, and if there will be a few that nearly everyone suggests... Pictures not required, but definitely encouraged!!!

Awesome, good to hear! And thanks for the tips! Now here's hoping there isn't a massive snowstorm right before or during the show that would make me say "aw heck no" to travelling there & back haha.

I'm itching to attend my first marble show... Indianapolis is next weekend, and probably the closest show I'll ever be to -- only about 4hrs from Lansing, an easy day trip(s) for me. Curious though -- has anyone here been to the Indianapolis show before? Anyone planning on going to this one? If you have been before: Would you recommend it as a good first show for a newbie? All thoughts about shows welcome, interested in hearing about them. Thanks!

Heck yeah! ❤ And oh man I'm so in love with that one with the red swirls. Alleys by far make up the majority of my beginning collection, but that's the only one I have so far with ribbons of that color red. It's fricking gorgeous. 😍😍😍

Got these in the mail the other day (along with the Ravenswood I posted in the Mostly Pix thread)! Kinda sad that these arrived actually, because they're from the FB auction group I was blocked from... because they think I'm someone I'm not. Can't believe I'm still blocked. Oh well, at least I got these! I think they're gorgeous. ❤ 5/8" 21/32"

I've been had, my own fault. I figured it out about halfway through several days of bidding... so was stuck with what I had already bid on that didn't get outbid. Luckily I was outbid on many, so didn't get stuck with nearly as many as I could have. Only 6 here to figure out, and I'm pretty sure I know what 1 of them is already. Very well may be that none of them are what the seller claimed they are. Some have 2 sets of pics -- a bright set, that shows details in darker colors really well, but it makes any white WAY too bright. And washes out colors a bit. So there's also a darker set, that calms the white down, and shows truer coloring. Couple also have backlit pics. Marble 1 -- described by seller as "Christensen Agate" 19/32" Bright: Dark: Marble 2 -- described by seller as "Christensen Agate oxblood" 19/32" Marble 3 -- described by seller as "Akro Agate purple slag" 19/32" Bright: Dark: Backlit: Marble 4 -- described by seller as "Akro Agate popeye patch" The line in the middle of the pinkish area there in the center of the biggest photo & top right photo is actually transparent. 5/8" Bright: Dark: Backlit: Marble 5 -- described by seller as "Christensen Agate" 19/32" Bright: Dark: Marble 6 -- described by seller as "Peltier bengal tiger" -- this is the one I think I have ID'ed -- pretty sure this is actually a Vacor Bengal Tiger. 21/32" Bright, really untrue colors: Dark, truer colors: Photobucket was down when I tried to upload these, so I'm using Google+ instead... But I think some of them may look blurry? That's not what they actually look like!!! Hopefully photobucket gets back up soon and I can upload these there, then edit this & replace the pic links. Not impressed with Google+ if it blurrifies my pics... Thanks for looking, any help is much appreciated! ***EDIT 12/28/17 5:37amEST: The blurry pics from Google+ are gone! Photobucket is back up for me, so the pics here now are linked from Photobucket, and not blurry anymore like they were at Google+***
-
Thanks! They've actually all been done with just my Samsung Galaxy S8 phone (the light used for backlit pics is my old Galaxy S5 phone).
-
More!!! This first one is from the lot of Alleys in the first post. The rest after it were separate purchases from the lot. Backlit: Backlit: This next one actually has a greenish tint to the transparent base glass (is hard to tell by the pics, but very obvious in hand). Does that make this a "vaseline" swirl??? Backlit:
-
I love the furnace swirls, too. Backlit: So freaking cool!!!

Ooo, unlimited money might entice me to live in snowy places -- if I could hire someone to shovel it, and to deliver anything I needed to buy (like food) directly to my front door, so I wouldn't have to go outside! LOL But I do love looking at it. Untouched, pristine snowscapes are ridiculously gorgeous. I know I have pics of pretty snow somewhere... probably in the thousands of 'mobile uploads' album on FB, not gonna try to find them right now though. But I do have a couple flowers! I have a bunch of clematis. Here's some pretty clematis close-ups:

Got my first oxblood the other day. (is this called a Tri-Colored Agate?) And... are those tiny little streaks "eyelashes"?
-
***EDIT: brought both of these mibs to the Canton show Feb 2018, and both of these were also confirmed NOT CAC... Purple slag was speculated to be a hand-gathered Pelt, and the 9-and-tail to be of the 'Canadian transitional' type. Both were sold as CAC. *** I did see that there was already a purple slag pic posted... the more the merrier??? I can't stop staring at this... I swear this is one of the most beautiful things I've ever seen. Still just as mesmerizing when it's backlit: Oh, and the American Agate too~

Haha, I said that looks like fire. Silly. I just found a light I can use for this: That same marble backlit -- now THAT looks like FIRE!!! 🔥🔥🔥
