  1. Ha! I thought this at first, then I was certain the glob at the base was sand from a furnace block. Thank you!
  2. So, this large marble (.950" 19/20) is interesting to me. I can't see the seams, but then again I couldn't find the hidden sock in my laundry this morning. Untill I reached in the pocket of my slacks. Some may recall my post not long ago asking about inclusions and the furnace brick. This guy has a rather large chunk of furnace brick. So, what is this oddity?

Sorry for the slow reply, mine is .598 inch.

    Vacor?

I had posted one similar not long ago...mine however is quite miserable lol
  5. Ok, I'm game. Here is a quick bit. My name is David and I fell into this spherical world somewhat inadvertently when I purchased a large lot of marble in a local auction. My intention was to turn them over quickly, but I was sucked in. I really enjoy the beauty and craft of every marble, I have many Pelts it seems, but I think I may become a ravenswood collector. The depth and sharpness of the swirls are amazing to look at. I'm a rookie, so I am sure I will find other I enjoy equally. I am so pleased to have found this place, and appreciate all the help and patience everyone has granted me so far.
  6. The lines that I can't seem to capture in photo lol
  7. Ok Steph, sorry took so long to get back to this. I took a few days of relaxation away from home. So, do these views help any? I'm still leaning Master. I think I'm seeing the v and u, and the fine lines spanning to the poles?
  8. Seems as though I have seen these marbles before. Like maybe in that same blue, a green, a red. I thought they were called something like frog eyes, something like that.
  9. Wicked Owls indeed. Hope they don't bring their fabled fait upon my other marbles. Guess I will have to keep them separated from the others. Thank you, Steph, you are amazing.
  10. Seems maybe I recall reading here at some point the a fine texture on the surface of a marbleeans it was foreign made? Either way, this is an interesting marble. The ribbons dart in and out of the glass. Black and white. The white one almost has a cats eye like form to it, and the black is almost painted on both the inside and out.
  11. Wow! Thank you! I love this place! This kind of information is exactly what I crave when I find new and interesting activities.
  12. Detail I didn't expect. Thank you Ron, expert knowledge is something I greatly admire because it is gathered only by those with true passion and appreciation for the things they do. Thank you again!
  13. Ok, I'm thinking Master?
  14. I'm saying I am putting this marble aside for a bit before it stirs some manic attack in my brain. I reserve the right to recall you as an expert opinion on some future date. Thank you.
  15. I have one of these, but mine is full of my Mason's jewelry collection. I also have the crown stocking and it's full of pennies. I also have a bunch of empty crown bags. How many collections is considered hording?
  16. Or this one with similar difference.
  17. Ok, check this. I am fairly certain this is my beaten marble, only mine is in Amber, not green. https://m.ebay.com/itm/Three-West-Virgina-U-V-Fluorescent-Swirls-/292580487587?_mwBanner=1&_rdt=1
  18. Ok, I can see the WVS after a bit of reading. What I can't pin down is the manufacturer. It's not Alley, it does seem to have some ravenswood features but not quite the depth, and fairly certain it's not champion. What could it be?
  19. Thank you Chuck G. I appreciate the encouragement. I have about 2500 marbles I am pressing through, most of these being cats eyes, and many of the others seeming to be Pelts so far. So far I am guessing I have positively identified 10 (with greatly appreciated support from you folks here), and another twenty that I have identified with the knowledge I have gained from you folks here. I have to admit, I initially had intended to buy them and turn them over quickly, but then when I ran my hands through the pile of the treasures they worked thier magic on me, and I caught the collecting bug. I of course will still sell (and gift) the vast majority of these, but more with the thought of keeping the marbles that I love, and funding more collecting adventures. Thank you all, again. I love this place. You are all incredibly gracious, informative, and fun! Vance Crash
  20. Ok, I think this is my first Jabo ID, nailed it?
  21. Ok, let's see if this new photo and some actual descriptive words can help. Maybe I should have started there? LOL sorry. Ribbons, yes. 2, maybe three. I will explain. Ok, top left pic start of one ribbon. Top right pic, turned 1/4 turn ribbon takes a curve. So in total this ribbons makes a sort of question mark like crook. However, in the crook you might notice there is a ribbon closing the crook. This really appears to be a separate ribbon imposed over and through the crook. The bottom left pic is the other side of the marble. It has a distinct and separate ribbon that makes a distinct "S" shape. The bottom right pic is the best I could capture of the internal structure. And I don't know how to describe it's shape other than to maybe say it's not unlike a banana form but it seems to have more formed fins than a banana cats eye, and a bit misshaped. As for size, call it 3/4"?
