  1. A repost of one of my favorite coats. 27/32nds if I remember right (close) showing the gaps demonstrating the lack of an underlying "skin" like an onion has, Backlit & a few pix of the pontils to demonstrate the "skip" grinding I was talking about. One end ground one end unfinished. These are all pix of the same mib. Here's the unfinished end :: And here's what I call "skip ground" they were in such a hurry that the actual pontil was completely missed leaving a grind mark off to one side. They musta been Bustin their humps. Here's another example. One pontil a melted pigtail the other end "skip ground" you can see where the grinding trailed off the pontil onto the clean surface of the marble on the left. I suppose it wasn't easy keeping it centered perfectly as a great deal of my late era coats exhibit this production trait, either this or both ends are rough and unfinished.
  2. Don't know about burnt but fer shur looks like another "spit shine" job ... ... hadda throw that one in for ya 🔥 I spotted the dribblins .....
  3. Killer set David, Coats are my favorite handmade as you know, love em man, Thanks for postin the pic Agree w/ ya on the later part of the Victorian era of production for yours. Most of the earlier types were larger and had one faceted pontil and the other usually a melted pigtail. They got a lot smaller when the "English gameboard" started & the demand went way up, increased production meant no time to facet anymore, half the smaller coats I have are skip ground on one end, either that or both ends were left unfinished. I forgot to add they were made for the English Gameboard mkt. by the Germans.
  4. I wish it was av, still a nice mib
  5. Yes, always good to ask, collect what you like, you're the only you, you have to make happy No matter the value.
  6. Yeah, another nice one, kinda hard to come by Pee-Wee Rainbos, a keeper IMO
  7. Yes, a Peltier Rainbo, the combinations on them are endless, some very rare. The one you have is more on the common side but still !! If you keep collecting Pelts you will run into more closely resembling it and every variation thereof.
  8. Mmm, mm, one of my all time favorites, nice marble
  9. Ivory keys ?? Or wooden ?? Who you kiddin, you're gonna be diggin in the snow ... ... Only laughin because if I lived close enough and you had an extra shovel we could convince each other to go on the worst day, moist soil makes for easier diggins !!
  10. I see some creasing in the black ribbons in these 2 pix but no av sparkle ?? Hopefully Fire will come back and let us know for sure ?? Still even if av is present I wouldn't consider it a poison bee IMO close in one view but ??
  11. I believe to qualify as a poison bee it has to have av ?

  13. Wahoo! Amen Brother, a new outlook & a second chance.
  14. Yeah, now I see em, man be careful Brother, looks like they were quite a ways up there ?? Glad you both are safe and sound
  15. It has Rainbo construct. alright, I see a slight amount of bifurcating going on in the base ? Guess you can call it whatever you want, never seen one like it, does it have av anywhere ?? "Golden Rainbo" what a concept !!
  16. No silly questions here, we're all learning and have been exactly where you are. You're in the right place, I wish this was available when I started. Glad to have you
  17. Thank you Ron !! I knew about the UV reaction being a necessary marker but I wasn't sure on the av content ??
  18. Jabo made tons of oxblood marbles, many different runs of them. I'm not sure of the I.D. on your OP pic, I'm not seeing any ox though ?? A couple of my favorite Jabos. Many contain av and oxblood, they made some very beautiful marbles. Oxblood Oxblood & Aventurine
  19. Are those Andirons ?? Did ya find em in the fireplace ?? "Diggin" you lucky dog !!
  20. Definitely Oxblood, MFC Brick, some may say a "white brick" IMO, very nice marble
