Hello Roby, x2, I see Alley as well
-
Hello Daniel, All machine-made marbles have 2 cut marks(shear marks, sometimes visible sometimes not) where the hot glob of glass was cut (sheared) @ each end coming out of the tank before hitting the rollers to be better shaped into a sphere. Handmades have pontils. Time in the hobby is your best friend, if I was to explain torchmades, contemporary, antique, cane cut, sulphides (single gather) transitional, etc... I would still be hitting keys hours from now. Patience please the slower you learn things hopefully the more engrained & easy to understand it will become, almost 3 decades and I learn something new almost every day. "All" the marbles you have presented are machine-made and have no pontils.

Might I suggest a grey or some other neutral colored background or matt, w/ no black, bright or reflective colors or surfaces, it will help the lens to focus on the marble instead of everything else around it, some moderate to bright lighting will help also, I use a 40 w daylight bulb and allow the camera to focus on the glass before snapping the pic eliminating retakes. A bit of trial & error, marbles are probably if not the hardest thing to photograph. Here's a link w/ about the simplest and most effective setup I've seen w/ some incredible results. Yes, I used to have a board exactly like that years ago, it came w/ white skinned onions w/ blue streaks. The small boards are not @ all common over here & VVHTF, "Thanks" for the added pix David
-
Yes "chocolate" applies to the base glass & "oxblood" to the patch, very very nice & VVHTF Akro William
-
-
Still no oxblood, I do see a few Peltier Rainbo's, some Vitro, maybe a Master or two ?? This plate appears to be all newer made marbles, I believe them to be foreign ? My mind is shootin blanks right now individual pix w/ multiple views of each in groups of 3 or 4 will make for a much more accurate ID Ah I almost forgot !! "Welcome to Marble Connection Daniel"

Yes I seen the final, I have never seen or heard of an Antique red mica that big in any shape. I noticed about 8 hours before the sale was over the seller added circles around the pontil identifying it as such. If that was even near 3/4 and mint like that it would've been over double the final sale price. It's contemporary IMO, made as art not a production piece. If that was authentic the bidding would've been astronomically high & the amount of bidders many more than 3, somebody bit the bullet

Nice naners Bill ....

"Welcome to Marble Connection Sarah" Well kinda hard to get any real ID from the pix, a bit to distant, I "think" it's a swirl, I was going to say oxblood but I can see through it in spots. Try a few more closer in focus shots for a better chance at a positive ID. Many years of combined knowledge & knowledgeable people here more than willing to help you along your marble journey. Again, "Welcome"

All Peltier, all a little different, all Christmas trees for this "Peltier Tuesday" the last one is a pee wee (below the .50" mark) translucent almost transparent Pelt Christmas tree.
