Complete Beginner - Any Ideas what marbles they are?
Chad G. replied to theteaman's topic in Marble I.D.'s
I made a boo boo on my last post concerning foreign sparklers calling them "stripeys" & fixed it so no ne else gets mislead, Josh (NANTUCKETDINK) straightened me out on my AAM post on the same marbles you have Sam so I fixed it as well (I hate it when that happens) Don't know how I did it but I did on the simplest of I.D.'s. Anyway very sorry about the mislead Sam & whoever else read it before the fix !! -
Alright man, talk about "Pinball Wizard" great post Brad !! I love games, especially action packed like this one. Wonder why they quit producing it ?? Maybe someone hurt their fingers, like the thumb they show ??

"Thanks for posting Sherry" Always nice to put face to the name !! Those mibs oughta look nice in the window., I've seen entire walls of them made into murals. I think it was Steph who posted a picture from the movie "Mr. & Mrs. Jones" where there was a dragon mural made entirely of marbles either covering the wall or hanging in the background, hopefully she'll see this post & be able to find the pic easily since I can't ?? People do all kinds of things w/ them, since you like art I bet this will turn out to be a great outlet in more ways than you ever expected !! Oh yeah !! Like the new Avatar !!

First thing I did when I got it out of the box, gonna take a little bit to get playing good just like at the fair !! .... .... Mmmm !! Deeliciouse, Super Buttery !! -
Perfect !!

Very Nice !! I Like !!

I'm no expert but many of those look very similar, there are subtle differences, numbers, stamps, no stamps, shallow bottoms, deep bottoms, size of the actual candle hole etc.. Lots of variables !! As you know they repop everything now a days so you almost have to have a doctorate, time in hobby is your best friend I guess ?? I'd certainly google Houze & Akro & repros to discern the differences, there's a good bit of money involved ?? Yes or no it'll be very useful information later when you're perusing the shops. That link I gave you I believe is Roger & Claudia Hardy's store, so they really know there stuff, probably better than anyone. Yes the Akro "Jolly Roger" named after him & the other mib he named after his wife "Claudia" both marbles were dug by Roger himself.

In case I don't make it here's some pix from the movie & a few past celebration. I'll do my best to get it done though !! LINK : https://portlandmofo.com/halloweentown-oregon-st-helens/ LINK : https://www.facebook.com/Halloweentown.OR/ I have a bit of time, it goes on foe the entire month & started early this year, man talk about a load of people, the vendor stores will be plucked out, new inventory will be a must, Yeah !!

Yeah man, them little hand held dexterity games, Crackerjack prizes mostly, I had tons of em as a kid, great memories Brother !! Anything I see marble related I automatically gravitate towards, I do believe I'm hooked in both sides !! Wolverine toy company made loads of marble related games, pinball games, tin litho etc.... Google "Wolverine toys" tin litho toys, pinball etc.. a fun search and many are very reasonable, good wall mounts !! I have to go through those vendor stores like an inch worm to be sure I don't miss anything, but once I've been through the entire store next time I spot the new stuff in two seconds. Wish I lived closer man, we could tear those stores up, there's nothin around here, I have to really dig to get what I do, most of it comes from connections I've made over the years beginning to cut loose w/ some stuff !!

Yes, Akro made clear glass candle holders as well as a couple different slag glass ones, pretty high dollar if you have the mint set. The slag glass ones are even more $$ than these are. LINK : https://www.ebay.com/itm/164843933361?hash=item266176ceb1:g:5YwAAOSwL9tgjbaN LINK : https://www.ebay.com/str/akroagatearsenal?_bkw=candle+holders Just a side note, they probably have anything you're looking for if you ask them, largest Akro store period, everything's just not listed.

You being from the UK & seeing your other posts I would gander to say these are foreign to the US as well ?? "To me" they almost look like some kind of Wire Pull ?? In this pic it looks to loop around and around w/o separation, like a pull does, the strands also have that 2 tone (or color) look ?? Someone will come along and know exactly what they are, Josh (NANTUCKETDINK) or "Alan" will probably have a good idea !!

Alright a scooter, killer man !!

I retract my last ... & say a motorcycle or mini bike. Thanks for the clue William, I musta been seeing doll furniture in Joeps pic ??

Foreign sparklers w/ at least one cat I see LINK : https://marbleconnection.com/topic/27241-greetings-from-sweden/?tab=comments#comment-23496 Well described and photographed in "Elizabeth Kempski's" book on cats. There are some stripeys, and a few pix of foreign sparklers like yours as well. The best & most informative book on the subject I've ever seen. Scored some mibs today and got some marble mail from friends & also a few items I purchased. A Christensen flame, an Alley coral, a handmade orange latt pee-wee, some other handmades & a transparent red Pelt cat, not a vey good shot I apologise, I'll get some better ones of it tomorrow !! A new (old) working game And a set of first run marbles. I can't show them yet because I got them for another as a gift so after they receive them I'll post the set here ?????????? (TBP) To Be Posted !! -
Very happy to get another working game today. Much like the steel 'Skill Ball" game I have a steady reminder of carnival days as a kid rolling the baseball to score points, still works, first thing I did was play a couple rounds. A Another curio will be on order shortly to contain games only !! Used as I like them, so you can play it not just sit there and look at it. A personal preference I suppose but I'd rather do with these games as the manufacturer intended. I can smell the cotton candy and beer sausages now, the scent of endless summer days and childhood friends .... ..... Yee Haw !!

They made the movie "Halloween town" in St. Helens Oregon, that's where we went today to a vendors shop. So many people We couldn't even move so decided to go. I know, I should've snapped a few pix but way too many people !! I mean they do this for almost 4 weeks, there were at least a couple thousand people there, in any kind of Halloween get up you can imagine, and everywhere had a big, big long line , the infamous "Line Ride" .... seems like someone was laughing at us !!!

I'm up, what the ?? Can't tell from here what it is ?? An Alien pod you're letting hatch out ?? ......
-
Got some nice mibs today, a Christensen flame, a clear Alley coral, a red Peltier cats eye & about 4 handmade Germans. I was pleasantly surprised to see the trans. red Pelt cat. I have another (somewhere ??) The Christensen was nice to see too, though I no longer collect them it'll make for some nice trading stock. I'll post some pix tomorrow. Oh, I got a new (old) mib game in the mail today too, so a great day, 3rd week in a row, hopefully this "trend" doesn't end anytime soon ?? As said pix tomorrow of the mibs & the game. Nice score on the slag glass William, (& the great food) we ate chicken hand tacos, frijoles (cooked refried beans) & rice, so "Great Minds do think Alike" ...... Here's my card, the proof's in the pudding !! ....... Something to hold ya over till tomorrows pix. Two 1" blue cats, w/ the transparent red Pelt cat in the center, a "teaser" The transparent red Pelt cats are mentioned in "Elizabeth Kempski's" book on cat eyes. I still can't find the one in the pic but figure my little "marble helpers" have them stashed somewhere in one of their many collections somewhere ?? Hopefully it won't end up rattling inside the vacuum !!
