  7. A few oddities for this "Sundays Best" the first is an interchangeable marble ring set from Avon, the second is a fork creation from a county fair I got some time ago.

  9. We had 4 engine rooms w/ 2 reactors in each engine room, I didn't even know they mothballed the Big E in 2017 until 2020, gonna be a long time before the get that monstrosity turned into razor blades.
  10. It was the "Nuclear Powered" thing that caused the big hassle, I was really looking forward to seeing Japan ?
  11. Crossed the equator as well and went through the shellback ceremonies, I have the pictures somewhere ?? Guess they don't allow the same old ceremony anymore, too many "rats" onboard !! Biggest hassle we had is when we anchored off Japan, no one was allowed any leave, first nuclear powered vessel since the war to visit Japan, we had Japanese junks throwing bottles at the ship as the incessantly circled it day and night yelling until we left.
  12. I was a Machinist Mate also, man what a small world, you went to the exact same A school I did, cold, cold & cold, I was more than happy to leave there. Went on 2 weeks leave directly from A school and the day after I got back to Alameda we left on Westpac
  13. 80-84 Alameda, USS Enterprise, boot was in San Diego, A school was in Great Lakes Ill. Subic Bay was my favorite (I think ?)
  14. I bought an armload of bootleg cassettes in Singapore when I was there, one of the first and only things I remember doing after getting off the ship ....
