Well, I am not so sure about the marbles being "newer"--they are a far cry from the run of the mill "all reds" that we are all familiar with. I would not consider these to be a "brushed patch" or a "veneered patch". There is some depth to them that cry's out "I am older" to me. I have little doubt that these boxes were "doctored", by whom and when is the question really. It took some thought to place the stamped letters as they are. Perhaps they were over printed flat before they were filled. Post yours for comparison please. I will put them under the scope and get back to this subject. Marble--On!!

I think that wvrons may have a bigger one, maybe he will follow up with his own side by side---I hope to see it anyhow. Marble--On!!!

Here is an image of a smaller Heaton box that is in reconstuction mode vs a #5 Master Glass flat--(unused) They are pretty close but the Heaton is a tad larger. Marble--On!! and box reconstruction on as well!!!

I hate to disagree with the ID on the last one or the "outlier". I have seen enough Akro oxblood patches to see this as one and call it one. The Ox Patches that Akro made really have no ryhme or reason to them and I would not doubt that this was one given that I have been trying to backfill some boxes with them for that last two years and have seen many variations. Some of them are great and some of them really suck--The nature of Oxblood is what I suspect---it really does what it wants to. IMHO, Marble--On!!

Ok, Victory I like—Fakes I do not. Here is another box that grabs me by the ears. It is a kind-of common box that has been altered with the” Victory Marbles” stamps. I know that I have seen one or two of these before so it is not a one-off. I believe that these are Vitro marbles with a lean towards Akro---well I think that they are Vitro and wish that they were Akro, let me come clean on this. Give me your opinions positive or negative—I like them all. Marble—On!!

Chalkies are very cool for sure and I have always wondered what makes them like they are. Any explanation would be appreciated. Marble--On!!

The confetti marbles are very nice and I have not seen such with the confetti on the exterior like these, almost Barney Rubble like. There are a few other Vacors in this lot but--- The top three starting at 12:00 going counter clockwise, look like a Peltier Ketchup and Mustard, an Akro Corkscrew and either another Corkscrew or a Peltier Tiger. Nice mixed lot for sure, Marble—On!!

Hi Bill, I do not have a #10 and I am wondering what it says on the side of the box. The #5's that I have say Master Glass Co on the edge. I have read that the new company copied the #10 which had the original company name on them and made the #5 to look the same only smaller. Thanks and Marble--On!!

Yes quite different, The closest that I have is a "dark red zebra" and that is not really that close--just a strange one that was along with a bunch of Millers that I came in contact with many moons ago. Marble--On!!

Well, it is both transparent and white in a mix lets say. Backlit it will not shine through but on the edges it will. A strange mix for sure and very hard to get a correct image of. There is clear and there is white in a very strange way that are kind of mixed together.

This Pelt is 11/16" and one of my favorites to look at. It looks like it may be opal but it is hard to tell with the almost oxblood in the way of the light. Marble--On!!!

I think that this may be a Chinese torchwork marble at 5/8" but it seems a bit refined---tell me what you think. I know that some of these are really nicely made and probably made by an advanced worker , but who knows for sure. Marble--On!!

I would say not Akro due to the bubbles in the marble. Green in all makes of marbles is the most common color to show AV which is unintended. Akro made very few marbles with purpose to show AV and I am not sure if they ever intended any. Master Marble and Master Glass both had marbles with bubbles in the glass as did Peltier. This marble looks like it may be Opal as well. It could be a "dug" or "experimental" Akro but I have not seen any with bubbles in the glass like this from any digs. Just because of the glass I might lean toward Peltier but that is a modest lean. Marble--On

There is a seam on the other sides, it blocked the marbles so I went with that side of them. Here you go.

I believe that these were considered Vitros until someone dug a load of them out of an Akro dumpsite. Yellow is usually darker.

How about that hand shooting marbles on the header---looks like Golum to me--lol

Great work Steph, Consider my box out of circulation. If I find more, I will take them out of circulation as well. Fakes abound in all areas of collecting and a thread like this will make someone look twice at least. I buy weird/odd things all of the time just to see what they are all about, marbles included. I love doing research and you took it further than I did and I applaud you for it. The fact remains that the box is of vintage manufacture, it holds 40 5/8” marbles perfectly and it held something round of that size for quite awhile before being sold empty. The stamp may be a fake, as we all suspect but the box it-self still has me by the ears. I have wondered if Master Glass could have done something like this after they owned Akro but shot that down because the box looks earlier. Marble—On!!

I think that they are legit. The Pavcraz is not even close, but the rarity of these boxes camoflaged that. The reason for the logos being off kilter is probably because the paper with the ("silkscreened?") logo was applied to the box with the logo on the paper. The dimensions between the logo and the company name are probably all right on. Marble--On!!

Thanks Ric, Keep your eyes peeled for another box or item stamped with this stamp. One may show up and I doubt that it was only used once. It is tiny at 1-3/8" and probably made by someone involved in the stamping hobby craze that many folks enjoy. I did look at a bunch of Akro stock boxes as research and found that not all stamps were used or made alike. I do not know if Akro used "rubber stamps" but this one looks like a rubber stamp was used. Marble--On!!!
