Oxblood August, It kind-of rhymes.
akroorka replied to akroorka's topic in General Marble & Glass Chat
The shadows are getting longer in Wisconsin and I am glad for some sunlight today. Oxblood August is almost to the end and I decided to end with a “flurry” of post’s—no snow yet—lol. This post has received great support and I thank all of the contributors, supporters and lookers for getting their oxblood on---let’s GIV-ER!!! with a few more post’s. Up first for me are some Jabo contracts ( jaybo is the pronunciation for those like me that had it wrong for many years)—sorry, I do not keep track of the names of the runs and buy them only because I like them. I don’t mind a Jabo Contract marble here and there---On!!! -
Awesome Sauce, I am not into names but this is what I thought---a really---really great marble. Marble--On!!
-
Very nice marbles--The seven in the middle row are worth the look for sure. Did BMW make marbles?? Marble--On!!
-
Thanks Al, I think that those RWB marbles in the bag are pretty close to what is shown. Thanks for the digging time that you did for the subject. The time frame is still in question though. Lets see some more folks--the more the better--lets rattle this tree some more. Rattle--On!!

Wow--someone fell into a bunch of nice Crisies

Unexpected results for these so far---box breakups are a drag---Like I said--out of my league and most leagues for sure. They are still out there--marble up and hunt!!! Marble--Hunt for sure!! -
I have used Jabos for slingshot ammo in the past--be careful with what you have--just sayin. Marble--On!!!
-

Sweeeeeeed topic--Thanks!! Marble---On!!

Well Brock, My first impression is not modern at all. I cannot say that I have seen many marbles with this color combo--more input is needed for sure. Marble--On!!
-
This is it my Friend, Folks willing to break out of the box and do research and give ideas on even the lesser valued items of the hobby. It is the least that will give credence to the best. Good work and a great direction to go in. Marble--On!!

OK, I have done enough damage to this post. I have always thought that a bit of honey/peaches always allows the serious to be swallowed. Let’s get on with it and get back to the original idea of sharing our knowledge with the upcoming/future collectors that we all desire to share this crazy collecting habit of ours with and has us all in a frenzy about. Just Kidding—have fun and collect—lol Marble—On!!!
-
Thanks Al, If you have some please show them. These are the only examples that I have seen--the ones in the OP Marble--On!!

It is Akro Friday and I do not know if I should post it here or on another post such as a “big score”. This is the place to be IMHO. My wife and I have been collecting Akro-ware for almost forty years and this is believe it or not, the first complete "Scotty Dog Matched Pair top and bottom" That we have been able to find without the ears chipped. Watch for the ears on this one, they are commonly missing a flea bite or two. Akro Friday works for me—I found these all today with change from two twenty’s. Akro-Ware—On!!!

Thanks for the ideas on this one Mr Meteorite. I am not always convinced by my own experience and always welcome anyones insight or ideas on anything that I might post. I have seen enough Akros to always consider the alternative to the instincts of the masses. Keep on marblin and keep on expressing what you know to be in your own experience. I would love to see these marbles in another format other than the boxes that we are discussing--bags, boxes, nets--whatever and whoever may have produced them. If you are into research, you know what I mean--believe until you are convinced otherwise. Marble--On for sure!!!

Master Marble from my point of view--and a very nice one at that. Marble--On!!!

This is the best example of what I have seen in my hand of what has been discussed on this board in previous posts/years behind us. An Opaque Sparkler. I know what many will think—but the colors are obvious to me. It is ¾” and really a very nice example of a larger Akro Agate Sparkler. I wish that the sun was out today to get a better group of images. This is what I could provide to the best of my abilities today. Sparklers—On and marble –On as well!!!
-
Good eye Ric, It is starting to look like a corkscrew. I already ate it and it does not taste like one. Fiber--On!!!
-
A look inside the mind of a “corkhead” I could have sworn that the seed packet said Akro on it and I have picked marbles out of the garden before. I though well,---maaaybee. Drats, this is what came up---Okraakro?? Okra—On!!!

I had some nice research on boxmakers for some Akro boxes that had info/trademarks on them to look into. It led to one company on the east coast who made jewelry boxes. I lost it all with my conversion from windows 7 to windows 10. Ten somehow decided that I no longer needed it on my thumb-drive and deleted it without any consent. I knew that I should have went to Apple. I lost a lot of stuff, too bad I can't remember most of it--or maybe it's a good thing. I do find a lot that seems like Deja-vu.---anyhow--it might be time for a new start on that subject. Marble--On!!

I agree, and would love to see a side by side comparison. Marble—On!!!

That is a great box Al. Maybe not so rare as the bigger ones--but still a hard find for sure. The ones that I have were as brittle as a soda cracker and I am getting them back to almost "normal" with tender loving care. PM me if you would like one for yourself. Marble--On!!

Pre-war glow is just different but you will get no argument on the facts from me—just a new factoid. Here is a great example of what we all can agree to on age factors. These “Fisher Jewel Trays” are something that have always caught my eye—this one kind of blows my mind. I just discovered this today. I have posted this set before but with an antique—lol camera from 2012. The one at the bottom right of the tray has no indication of glow whatsoever from all angles. The marbles that are loose are from a tray that was smooshed and missing a few. They all look the same under natural light. Lets see some more “Victory” Marble—on!!!

Interesting to say the least, The #10 Master Marbles box also has "Ringer" Rules on the back and they look to be the same print. I do not have one to show so I hope that someone does. Marble--On!!
