  1. Why is it that people put marbles in jars and sell them as such? Nearly every weekend I go out I find tons of awesome marbles in jars for next to nothing. How do people at the antique stores not know what they are selling? Guess it’s because I live near marble country as to why I find such good stuff. Like today, I found nearly 400 bucks of marbles for 65 bucks. I’m only 32 but perhaps marbles in jars is historically how people stored them, not sure. I love vintage and antique marbles for their beauty/history and also because unlike most things, you have to have an extensive knowledge base to know what they are and what they are worth. It’s not like an antique bottle that has embossing and is easily searchable on google. You rarely if ever find good deals on antique bottles or anything that has clearly defined makers marks. But vintage and antique marbles, it’s absolutely nuts the deals you can get; unlike with nearly every other kinda antique or vintage thing out there.
  2. Just found two great jars today. Hit the Akro Oxblood lottery. Haven’t looked through them all yet, just saw these guys on the board in the top of one of the jars. Who knows what wonders may yet be revealed.
  3. Its the only sulfide I have. I only ever encounter very damaged sulfides or polished ones. The one I just got still has the pontil and isn’t polished and has not a single piece of damage on it.
  4. I bought loads of swirls at the canton show last week and every time I think I got them nailed down I learn something new and then have no idea. Is this an alley?
  5. Bought these at the canton show last weekend. I wouldn’t call it a score as I paid a lot for these, marbles you don’t usually find in jars for nothing at antique stores.
  6. That’s a vitro? Well bless my bark
  7. Ehhhhhh, first thought is pelt but I’ve never seen a pelt with those colors. Could be a weird ass jabo but I’ve never seen a jabo like it if it is.
  8. All of those in your first photo are pelt bananas.
  9. The consensus I believe here and all over Facebook is master.
  10. So ima put these with my masters?
  11. Looks like a vitro patch to me of some sort.
  12. I should know this but just wanted to double check. Found it in a lot of all junk catseyes. It’s either Akro or master. Not really a sparkler but it resembles one.
  13. Just got these on Sunday. A nice gooseberry, a mellonball and what I believe to be an Akron Roller. However after researching it more Im not too sure. Anyone know anything about Akron rollers by the American marble and toy Mfg Co? And then while asking for marbles at an antique store some guy overheard me and invited me to his house as he does house clean outs and had loads of marbles. I was there for two hours identifying what he had and he gave me these four marbles for free. 2 mint akros and 2 mint germans. The brown has a slight Laticino core with mica.
  14. A nice pelt I just found while relooking through a jar of marbles that I thought were all junk that I’ve had for a while. What exactly would this be considered? It’s not an NLR nor does it really have rainbo traits.
  15. All of the still photos of Rogers collection in that video are mine from when I last visited a few months ago. Stephen asked me if he could use them. I wish I could have spent a week in that room studying all of the patches and slags and Akro ware to better understand them.
  16. I just realized I have a photo of Rogers 1935 ash tray from his collection when I went a few months ago.
  17. Found this super rare Akro ashtray today at a garage sale. Anyone seen this one before? I don’t have any idea what the circle K convention is.
  18. Most of those in mint condition are fairly rare to very rare today to be found in the wild.
  19. Here's my collection of marbles. Only been collecting them for about 2 years, so I'm sure my collection pales in comparison to your guys. I have them all organized by company type. Untitled by PittsburghMarbles, on Flickr Untitled by photolitherland, on Flickr
