  1. Ok, this may have been discussed earlier but I think it’s worth discussing. Since October of 2023 I’ve really got bit by the marble bug. All the different and beautiful mixed colors, swirls, slags, corkscrew's, handmade and yes, lawn-chair beer-can marbles keep you looking in every out of the way places imaginable for that next jewel. The ones that I haven’t mentioned are the ones that GLOW. My question is, did the maker's of these little gems know that they would glow and transform to out of this world cool marbles when brought under UV light. Some of the marble that glow can be very old. You don't see advertising that says, “Look kids these glow under UV light.” Maybe I haven't been into this addiction long enough to know but am I just missing something. Tell me why the marble manufactures used UV glass.
  2. This is one of the things I like about this site. I have some marbles that look very similar and now I know what they are. Thanks for posting Mojo.
  3. Welcome newest marbleholic. I’m there with ya. Great new hobby that I enjoy with the kids. Have fun
  4. I was going to post these on Marble King Monday but wasn’t 100% sure what they are. I had them in a box marked “Black Jackets”. Several months ago I thought I identified them but not sure now. Any opinions?
  5. Marble King and Mondays always get me down. Not !!! Made ya look 😂
  6. This ought to be good for Sundays best. I wish I could remember where I seen it. I’m not sure if I took the pic or whether it a photo I saved off the net. It would be nice to find this one in a mason jar. 😳 Happy Sunday !!
  7. Welcome Pieces, I can’t imagine having to go through that many marbles. I’ve got maybe 200 and my head spins. I think Im going to go look for more. 😁 Have fun
  8. Welcome D.S. Duff, there’s a lot more cool stuff here. Have fun
  9. I like finding a gem in a bag or jar. I’m getting better at recognizing them. What gets me is how many I let get away. Just the other day I picked up a jar and put it down because I didn’t see anything that caught my eye. Soon after that my son picked up the same jar and found several really nice marbles that I didn’t see. One of them was a German handmade. 😩. I couldn’t believe it. Great find Schmoozer, I like sparklers too.
  10. That’s really cool. Thanks for the help.
  11. Went looking for marbles today and found this ash tray. I can’t find it on- line to help with ID. There are no Akro markings but sure looks like Akro. Glows like crazy too.
  12. Thanks for the info. That’s cool. Gonna look into the Leighton companies.
  13. Well I think I may have found my answer. I pretty sure I have an early M.F. Christensen regular transitional pontil 9 and tail.
  14. When I first seen this marble I thought it might be a flame. It was almost in the middle of a jar and all I could see was one side. The lady at the antique shop allowed me to dig it out to get a closer look if I would tell her what I knew about marbles. LOL!! That didn’t take long. I did give her some great web sites to browse and we had a great conversation. Long story short, she is a little wiser and I got the marble. Is that a pontil ?? If so, is this a hand made. I’m excited about this one. IMG_8911.mov
  15. Those look like they have a few different colors too. I bet they pop when back lit. Jabo and Das are becoming some of my favorites. The colors and unique runs make them worth talking about. Then again a beautiful slag or a stand out 9 and tail are awesome too.
  16. I’ve read the story and watched a video where they talked about “lawnchair marbles. I came across these online and they are pretty cool. Nothing real special just a dull swirl clear black base marble, right. Holy cow when you hit it with a back light they come alive. They even glow green under UV light. If you have some post pics of them
  17. Welcome Vacorfan. I like Vacor marbles too. They have some great lookin colors combination.
  18. Welcome on board. I’ve learned a lot here.
