Steph. The cost qoute was of the end result. I was told by one of the investors. I don't know what formula was used to arrive at the final unit ( 17cts. per each marble ). Unless you took $9,000 & divided it by 70,000 or how many thousands a 16 hr. run would produce? That would be your field of expertise/ the vintage marbles for 1 example 19 for .10 cents. in the 50's and the Mfg made a profit/ at less than .01/2 cent ea. not counting packaging. marblemiser

The sad thing is back when 35 for $300.00 seemed like a deal at the time. Now they have gone the way of the stock market. Not up & down but down. It was for me an investment. Now they will have to go to my grandchildren. So by the time they're my age, they'll ( the Jabos ) will be antiques & maybe then the investment value will be realized? Oh, well it was fun while it lasted. marblemiser

TOO much of a good thing. They're flooding the market now. I know I've lost interest. In this time of job loss, it's good to see that someone is working. Thing is how many of thhe unemployed are going to be able to afford $10.00 a pop. Especialy when the cost per unit is around $00.17 cents. Quite a profit margin huh? Kinda like the soft drink industry $1.95 for a Pepsi 20 oz. At the Dollar store a 2 liter is a $1.10. IMHO.. marblemiser

In one or all of Block's Id guide books. There is a mention of Peltier oxblood. It is referred to as immitation oxblood. It appears on some of the sunset marbles as a brownish patch with white inside the marble. I have 5 but Heaven only knows where they are in this house? If I find them I'll post some pics. Also there have been many MCS Multi Color Swirls that have a stripe or 2 of oxblood on them. I think that in the VAST JABO RUNS lately. Some one mentioned that the oxblood that tyhe happened with some of the runs was unexpected? I'm sure that Steph has info on them also. marblemiser

The first bag is real. The Pressman Co. purchased marbles from many MFG's, to fill bags & boxes. The rest are fake. Or Newbie bait. Which is sad, since it spoils intrest in marble collecting. No one want's to start collecting something & get ripped off in the process. Thanks for showing them. I think everyone should be reminded once in awhile, that these rip off bags are still out there. marblemiser

Aren't you glad to have friends like we have on this board? To help us out? What would you have done if you hadn't posted this marble? Then showed it to another collector 6 months later? It's good that the seller was honest & refunded part of your money. Otherwise there could have been bad feelings? And it may have lost some of it's luster> Beautiful marble, I have not seen work like it. Good luck. And marble on/ marblemiser

I emailed seller to explain what a Blue Bee really was. This is his reply. He does have a return policy. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...em=110362377515 I am appreciative of your knowing comments about this offering. It has NO WHITE in it that I can see, just the shades of blue, light to dark and while I am not familiar with the term 'aventurine' I must assume it is the yellowish green that you are mentioning. If my photo is showing any white on your computer, then either my camera is off a little or you computer is. I have another just like it but the colors are in a different pattern from this one and it has nothing I could call white. I know that I am talking to one of the masters on marble ID and I know so very little that perhaps I am in over my head, but to say that I continue to believe it is called what I have named it and attempted to describe, though I could not use the word 'aventurine' in my description. I have had contact with one who has been collecting for over 20 years who readily admits that to this day he has some difficulty recognizing exactly what a marble really is at times. I am not disagreeing with you since I am beholden to your offer of clarification, it has given me the venue to allow all bidders(?) to connect with some of the problems with attempting to sell marbles without the years of experience to fall back on. Certainly you will not find any attempt to mislead anyone and my refund for "not as described" still holds. Anyone who is disappointed in my offering by my inability to describe is certainly welcome to take full advantage of the refund. I try to be honest to a fault, really just an old guy who is doing one of the things he is somewhat capable of doing. I hope this causes you to l@@k again at my photos (smile) Thank you again, Sincerely, Jerry Thanks marblemiser

MARBLEMISER replied to Steph's topic in Steph's Study Hall
There's nothing in the movie to be offended by. I was refering to his powers of deduction. I guess I'll have to look elsewhere for the other knife. But let me let me know if the other one shows up? marblemiser -
