POSTAGE IS FOR UK ONLY,IF BIDDING FROM OVERSEAS PLEASE CONTACT ME RE POSTAGE AND PACKING. Some slight chips in some??? Most in Good condition??? Is some, like a couple? One problem that I have had since collecting 24 yrs. It begins with going to auctions. When I showed up at several auctions, bid & bought several marbles. The auctioneer will remember you. Then he starts to call you marble man or " there's my marble expert"/ This create's a problem for me, but not for him. If I bid on a marble or a group of marbles & someone that has little knowledge sees me bidding, then they (the mibs ) must be good or I wouldn't be bidding on them. So the bidding war starts. I never said that I was an expert, but was labeled as such. I used to get someone to bid on the marbles for me. That worked for a while. But it caught on. When the auctioneer called me marbleman I always said that I don't know anything about what you're talking about. But in such small circles it's hard to hide. I've had other collectors ask me,at auctions what I was going to bid on? I would say wait & see. Then they would bid against me even if they didn't know what the marble was. JUST SO I didn't get too cheap!!! Anyway, I quit going to auctions to buy mibs. I just look at what I have & am happy with them. A reputation as an expert isn't something I asked for I was framed!!! The more I think I know the less I remember what I forgot. marblemiser

Thank you so much for the replies. Vitro was my side of the debate. Akro was the other. I guess sometimes, I really do know, what I think I know. Whew!!. Thanks again Folks. marblemiser

I know that I should know? But I talked to another collector & we didn't agree?? I'm not saying who I think ( or know ) for the simple reason the more I think I know the more I get put in my place> thanks marblemiser

Steph, The sad thing is that there was a good chance a sledge hammer was involved. Usually the the law destroyed any & all gameing divices> What a shame. That a piece of history went by way of total distruction> Not to mention the $$ value of such a machine? Thanks for the look back. marblemiser

Pee Wees in the box. Oldies but goodies! marblemiser

I'll Go you one better. Get a handfull of all the runs ID> Pack them very carefully. And send them to me?? I'll be watching for the mail. It would be nice to have privy to all the special runs. Some of us don't have the funds or the travel time to get them. Since the vintage mibs have literally dried up. I need to expand my horizon. marblemiser

OOP'S!!! Guess I'm wrong again. My method of using this cloth takes away the film, made from finger prints and Pepsi. So I'll have to go back to using a cloth diaper. Shucks. Sorry about the bad advice> I'll just sit back & let the real experts give the advice. After all what do I know??? Sorry again> marblemiser

Jessica, The cloths work great! And when used the results are awsome. It's like finding a diamond in the rough & the cloth brings it to life. I have used one of these cloths for years. And have never looked back. They don't remove any of the glass & won't damage seams, or pontils. If they do you are using it too much! LOL Really It would take years to remove a seam or a pontil, using this cloth, When you first start rubbing the cloth to marble. It will feel like it's sticking After a few revolutions of this polishing process, the feeling of cloth to marble will be smooth. So smooth in fact that the marble will want to jump out of the cloth! To coin a frase. (Smooth as glass) That's when you quit>>> That's when the WOW! factor hits. I would advise that you get one. If you don't like it. I'll take it off your hands. Mine is getting a little frazzeled. After you do your first transformation. You'll have tired fingers from trying to do your whole collcetion in the same day. IMHO Hope this helps. marblemiser

I Thought It Was A Plain Clear Mib...
MARBLEMISER replied to jstone's topic in General Marble & Glass Chat
Jessica, It sounds like you have a mib made using uraninium. It will glow under a black light. The term I have heard used to describe this type of mib. Is glow bug> And yes vaseline glass is very common in these type mibs. It does not however make them worth more that many other mibs. They were made prior to 1949. At least that's my understanding. Since the chemical was a health hazard. Just what I know ( or think I know ) about this type of mib. hope this helps? marblemiser
