  1. Huge antique mall in Roseville CA. There was a big case full of them!!
  2. I am just trying to figure out if he is yelling or laughing
  3. Mon, Its just me, I get frustrated easier in my old age so I Am trying to look at marbles like I would a nice sculpture or painting. I look at those for their beauty and how they effect me on a more primal level, And I don't worry about what size or type chisels the sculpture used or what kind of brushes or stroke the painter used. Now some folks would think about these things but not I. So I am giving that a try with marbles. Plus, unlike you John Steph Bob Winnie and several others, there are folks here that can not handle discussions in a civilized manner. I am tired of stoking their engines. I may not like this new way for long, we shall see.
  4. And their construction is quite interesting also. put your palms together with the tips of your fingers at each opposite wrist, now clasp your fingers together, look at the S on the side? Your clasped hands are the marble. Now this is some of the CAC stuff that has broken my brain. One of the reasons I have tried to just start enjoying them for what the are and leave the technicalities to others.
  5. Have not heard that term used for a while. Here is a classic CAC R&T
  6. Forgot I took these pics. Sorry they are cell phone pics.
  7. Mikey, you still got some pretty Pelts!!
  8. It is a Christensen, Mark, and I would not argue with the last post although at this time I usually can tell fairly quickly whether I think it is a real CAC or not when I have a marble in hand. I have been fooled once by being too quick.
  9. Yes that is the S. I have seen it on other types as well but very minimally in definition. And there usually are 2 seam examples of the single seam types. Find me at a show I love to discuss them in person. Really really no more!!!!!!!!!!!!!! MC
  10. What exposure in the Exotic thread are you talking about. The fact that I saw some pictures of some marbles Mon got and I questioned whether they may be fake or not. True story. Not sure I had many of my own at that time and certainly had not had time to study them or have any time talking with many of the folks involved bringing them to the collectors. XOXO Galen (LOL) You really don't need to reply, I don't need an answer, just replying to your one of many shots you have taken at me over the years. It does get old. I really can not remember one single time I ever directed a nasty post towards you? Unless I responded to one you made first. Too bad you just have to keep it up. I made a pledge a while ago to try and be positive and keep my posts nice. I will try to continue
  11. I have stated this many times before but will do it again. On the surface of many CAC marbles is a pattern that looks like many small flat scuffed areas. Not sure what caused them?? Maybe the way they bounced down the rollers?? Also there is a definite construction design, the "S" being part of it. These are two of the things I find in almost all the ones I believe are CAC. And I have not seen an any other types show these same traits except minimally and in forms that can be separated from the CACs IMO. Thats it from me, please no more, I am really burnt out on the discussions and just want to enjoy them as beautiful marbles I believe are CAC. I really don't care if anyone wants to think they are modern..
  12. Bob, you are hilarious, and I do see the cat covered in Seaweed?
  13. Might be a folded Akro?
  14. It is temperature of the glass that plays the biggest part IMO. If the glass is hot enough the cutoff can be really rough but the marble will still get rounded smooth on the rounding rollers. So the speed in which the gathering and shearing is done can also play a part as well as the temperature the furnace(pot) is kept at. I also believe a different type of shear(other than big straight blade scissors) was used on some? Hansel that box with bag is really special and I love the Canadian types! Had to Edit Hansels name for Winnies. Hansel you continue to amaze with so many wonderful marbles in your collection!!
  15. My last thought on the subject, Believe they are real or do not. Get some for yourself, study and examine them under a good well lit microscope. compare them to other accepted CACs. Get some of Johns marbles, some of Mark Christensens' and any other good reproductions you can find. Study these and compare them. Draw your own conclusions and go with that. No amount of discussion or internet pictures are going to do anything to convince anyone one way or the other and I don't need to convince anyone. Yes, I have done all the above
  16. Got one of their outlet stores 1/2 a block from our district office. I hear it calling every time I have to go there.
  17. Pelts IMO. Interesting how they can look like early MKs
