Found These In Dallas Last Week
chucks_mibs replied to Speed Racer's topic in General Marble & Glass Chat
Looking at these .....they have a little resemblance to Ravenswood.......The orange is almost like a "Butterscotch"....here is a sample of one I sold recently -
Nice Alleys....the one on the left is fantastic......did you hit it with a black-light?........looks like its from the Pistachio family of mibs (almost all will glow)

IMHO Sellers and buyers both should be held accountable for their merchandise descriptions and purchases.....but ultimately, eBay buyers have the responsibility to do their own research before making pricey purchases.........I don't know too many "unknowing" eBay buyers ready to spend that kind of loot blindly..........But if they do, its totally on them

Ebay Dipping Wet!!! ????
chucks_mibs replied to William Marbles's topic in General Marble & Glass Chat
Macro photography will pick up ALL details.......Im certain those lines are "fingerprints"....and the as made (or hit) is probably not visible without a loupe...... On the other hand, IMHO 8 bills is kinda expensive....What size was it? -
Unless hes living in a 3 story mansion in Beverly hills...Im certain he will get enough to pay the taxes.....The pelt box should realize that by itself
-
They all look 100% legit......and I might not agree with the no return but can understand it because he has to pay Caesar

What's Your Thoughts On This?
chucks_mibs replied to William Marbles's topic in General Marble & Glass Chat
Im certain that more pics would reveal the truth.....but from the pics given, is there a possibility that its vintage but polished?....(maybe thats why they didnt want to show the other end)??? -
What Is The Correct Way To Measure A Marble?
chucks_mibs replied to jeroen's topic in General Marble & Glass Chat
Okay my bad ....so the marble is a "smaller" diameter when measured from pontil to pontil? Either way its still an easy fix on the description... just state as such...... Marble measures 2 1/2" but slightly smaller from pontil to pontil at 2 7/16" -
What Is The Correct Way To Measure A Marble?
chucks_mibs replied to jeroen's topic in General Marble & Glass Chat
My description would be: Marble measures 2 7/16" but slightly larger from pontil to pontil at 2 1/2" -

Looks like tons of aventurine from here....but looks like a little damage in the blue base glass.... -
Collectors...ethics..and The Buy It Now Offer
chucks_mibs replied to 3oranges's topic in General Marble & Glass Chat
Thats true Galen, but its always funny to watch when the final price was lower than what the low-ballers side offer was....Specially when they didn't even try bidding.... -
Collectors...ethics..and The Buy It Now Offer
chucks_mibs replied to 3oranges's topic in General Marble & Glass Chat
As a seller, I have this happen to me ALL THE TIME.....its to the point now that I have a "saved response" that I send to the lowballer: Sorry, this is not a "buy it now" listing .....This is an "auction style" listing which I feel should sell for fair market value......I would suggest that if you have a certain price cap, place that amount as your bid offering and if the bidding exceeds that amount, then you will feel good that you haven't gone above your capped price.... But the offers keep pouring in....In a few cases, the lowballer offer was way more than the marbles' final selling price (in all of those cases, they werent ever the winning bidder....lol).. Man o Man oh Man.....This fits my scenario so many times and so often ("strapped for cash") but in those instances, I have always opted for a "Buy it now" styled auction with a "make me an offer" option........ Many times I have purposely made the Buy it now price slightly below market value to increase my chance of selling the marbles so that "specific needs" get met and bills get paid etc -
There is no physical cut line where the seams are but below I have pointed out where the swirl termination points are.....

Nice score Mike....looks like a really cool mib....We are all anxiously waiting to see..... PS-When Red goes "submerged" into Opalescent (Blue) based glass....It gives off a Purple coloring Edit is in Red writing... (I meant to say Blue opalescent glass) -

chucks_mibs replied to mmuehlba's topic in General Marble & Glass Chat
Looks like the base glass is Opalescent and the cork look Dark reddish/Brown (Maybe Wine colored)....I hope it looks like the ones you already have......In any case, you cant go wrong for $2.11 delivered to your front door -
........will be ending real soon (within the hour)...........Have a gander! ........YOU CAN GO DIRECTLY TO THE AUCTIONS BY CLICKING ON THE ANIMATED PICTURE BELOW

Ravenswood With A Transparent Green Base ??
chucks_mibs replied to mmuehlba's topic in General Marble & Glass Chat
Alley is a good guess, I haven't seen very many marbles with that color combo...Im also thinking Ravenswood with that extra tan color.....whats the size?........ -
The green will absolutely not pass light.....but you can see bubbles "resting" slightly subsurface.....Almost looks like cased glass (like on some clambroths)
-
So far I've received mixed opinions whether this Is a NLR or a Rainbo?.....The marble measures 5/8" has colors of a MK Dragonfly.......I would like to ask of your opinions before I list it.....NLR or Rainbo?.......Is it because of the colors, the ribbon count or the ribbon configuration? and why?
-
The second set of photos look like its a transparent patch....Red transparent bubbly based glass with the trans green being the patch... Maker?...HMMM Akro or Master.......just my two cents..... PS-If its an Akro, its a pretty rare one...go check your Akro Patches, and see how many Transparent on Transparent's there are .......

Winnie, I find transparent colored marbles are extremely hard to photograph with accurate details.....and from the pics given, I can see it has Red and Green and also that the marble contains a ton of bubbles (looks like a patch?).....My question is, when held against different angles of lighting, does the marbles' overall appearance and the shape of the seams perhaps have characteristics of an Akro patch? EDIT: At the top half of the first picture (directly on and around the light reflections)....are those seams??
