marbles34
Hello All, I do believe someone is going to be dissapointed......isn't this a Brian Graham marble? http://www.ebay.com/itm/M-F-C-GREEN-OXBLOOD-BRICK-MARBLE-13-16-NR-/261180995817?_trksid=p2047675.l2557&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEWAX%3AIT&nma=true&si=%252FdxwA30sQGFGnFGMB4PECk8vq24%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc Thanks! Guest browse4antiques
It doesn't have the right sort of cutoff to be MFC. ... Roger
lstmmrbls
the circular area almost looks like someone tried to polish off Brians melted pontil????
wediscount2
the circular area almost looks like someone tried to polish off Brians melted pontil???? It is absolutely a Brian Graham or a Scott Patrick marble, no doubt in my mind whatsoever about that. Their marbles are easy to tell as they always have a glossy white membrane looking sheen to the surface, are void of nice subtle ridges, and have very few if any outgas craters, and they also do not have a nice orange peel surface as almost ALL VINTAGE MARBLES HAVE. bumblebee
Ouch that's a lot of money. I thought it was clever that the seller put the item condition field as New. He also sold this "new" marble AS IS, which is also interesting. Here's one Scott Patrck that sold for $25 recently: http://www.ebay.com/...=p2047675.l2557
akronmarbles
Looks like one of my creations and I agree that the pontil has been modified. SIze is right as well. IMHO....Bubbles, ridges, and orange peel surfaces are easy to replicate. It just requires working at a lower temp. Hard to do if torching but easy to do at the furnace. hdesousa
The marble was sold a few weeks earlier, seems the pontil had been altered by then: http://www.ebay.com/itm/M-F-Christensen-Oxblood-Slag-Hand-Gathered-Ground-Pontil-25-32-and-13-16-/121070970926
akronmarbles
Interesting Hansel. Sloppy grinding work. I wonder who the seller is? Rootstown is just a county away.
clydetul62
I knew it wasnt MFC due to no cutline. The seller only showed a side view of the pontil. I thought it was a BG at first as well but the pontil was wrong. My first thought if wasnt a BG then was either polished or was a wierd transitional. Too many alarms and not enough bells for me to bid.
lstmmrbls
looks like the reseller put a finer polish to the pontil. When the feedback comes up someone can contact the buyer.
