Steph 0
Now that I'm more comfortable taking photos, it's time to show my DAS's some love again. I keep coming back to this particular run, don't I. But I'll post some others as I pack them away for the move. July 28, 2014
Nantucketdink 0
Let's turn on the Crystal Superman light.
Steph 0
Yes! How fun! My small handful stay cushioned in their DAS gift box.
Nantucketdink 0
What's really fun about that lamp is I bought it filled that way. I have a nice "safe" plastic tray with my 35 favorite Crystal Supermen in it. That tray is mostly Rams Horns as that pattern is quite stunning with this marble. Steph 0
New ones! Veterans Run. November 8. Nice colors. Base clear with white. Winning combo. And some bonus lutz. *happy*

Steph 0
What is that hiding inside? A fox head? A star? How did it get there?
Nantucketdink 0
That would be a JABO machine made sulphide of course. It's a copper star in a Reno Transparent. They have a small object only teleportation machine at JABO... It is the same machine they use to send back JABOs in time so they appear in antique only marble lots.
Nantucketdink 0
The teleportation machine isn't always accurate.
Nantucketdink 0
Can someone give me an "e." I would like to buy a vowel. Maybe Rick Hall or someone else involved with the Reno Transparent Run can better explain exactly how they put the star in there. We can all just take guesses too. Nantucketdink 0
Guess 1-pushed into stream. Guess 2-definitely teleportation machine Guess 3- wicked powerful magnet Guess 4-saw, drill, and epoxy Guess 5-expandable copper was used that grows 20 times its original size when it cools. Steph 0
It just looks like it was put there on purpose. It was aventurine! So much aventurine it reduced into copper and crystallized into a star.
Steph 0
So ... to be serious .. I had NO idea they were putting stuff inside the marbles like that.
Nantucketdink 0
I knew of a couple of experiments that weren't very successful. I don't know if there is any true "success" yet as even this marble has a fracture. If I didn't just say it, you wouldn't have known. I didn't know these were made either until it popped up on ebay a few days ago. Maybe Dare or Rick or somebody else who knows about it can shed some light if he/she reads this and knows of them. Nantucketdink 0
I was informed that this marble was a result of tool testing for a future JABO sulfide run. It is not so easy to hold a tool in the stream without pulling glass away I was told. That is what I imagined. Thank goodness for experimentation and thank goodness multiple people at multiple locations are still making machine mades in America.
Steph 0
Thanks, Josh. Good info.
Steph 0
I have two more runs of DAS's already to photograph. The Ed and M run and the Thanksgiving run. But we're in the middle of this endless move and I have to set up my camera again and figure all that out on the new computer. In the meantime, I just ran across this -- this might be THE lawnchair of the Lawn Chair Run from 2009.

Steph 0
The DAS Christmas marbles are _very_ Christmassy ... green and red and gold ... but no pictures ... the move is really really REALLY real now. We're taking the cats over to the new place tonight. So I have to figure out how to use the camera and upload pictures on the new computer. Maybe someone else can post some pictures. They are really sweet.
Nantucketdink 0
I just got my full case of the Christmas ones. Yummy. Sorting through a new case of nice unknown marbles is such a joy. Green and red floaters with lutz swirls screams CHRISTMAS to me too.
Nantucketdink 0
Its a bird, its a plane, its a lamp full of Christmas Supermen ready to light up somebody's world.
