I'm moving which means I am packing up my marbles. So how much do you think your collection weighs ?

It gets heavier every time I move. I've packed mine up 4 times. This will be the 5th and last time.

I've moved mine a couple times, and yes they are not light.  I'd go so far as limit the size of box, so it wouldn't be too heavy and bust a seam.

I'm documenting and taking pics of every box. I have almost 5-6 gallons of Penny Mibs. 🤪

I plan to pare my collection down to a top 2,000 or so before I move in a couple of years.

Good point when moving anything: keep it organized, sensible, and properly labeled/documented.

In my experience Hot/humid days are the worst time to move since good intentions and patience seem to go by the wayside very quickly.

At least a box labeled "husbands junk" lets me know it wasn't one I packed.  🙃

Well, since I collect bags and boxes of marbles besides some individual types, I have about 60 copy paper boxes full.  That is a bit heavy.

I moved mine this last time in the large plastic tote bins maybe 20 gallons each. Most of the marbles were in bubble packs and display boxes.  I had two pickup truck beds full of tote bins. Then we put several totes of Jabo marbles in a trailer. Most of the Jabos have found new homes over the last five years. When you get three to five 20lb. cases as a investor in a special run, numbers add up fast. I was a investor in about 60 to 100 of 165+ special runs at Jabo 2008-2012. This does not count the earlier Jabo classics I had since 1998 to 2008. I thought marbles would be small and not take up much room. That depends on how many you might have. Some collections are 100 marbles and some are a million and more, marbles.  I was thinning my collection at marble shows. But this last past year and Covid stopped that for a while. Now back to more normal and to the marble shows .
