jhomer2172
This is posted on eBay as a 1.56 in Pelt. Block states in his book that no pelts over 1 1/16 “ exist. The 9 makes me question this also and the colors seem wrong for a Pelt. Trans hand gathered? Contemp? Thanks
Fire1981
That's a Contemporary Hand made. I don't think that's an honest ID.

Fire1981
Someone’s going to pay way too much for this marble. It’s sitting at $77.55 with 3 and a half hours to go.
jhomer2172
I’ve just got back into collecting and was wondering why Pelts are selling for so much more than 5 or six years ago, almost double it seems even rainbos are into double didgets. What’s the deal? Thanks
Chad G.
Shorter supply (i.e. more in collectors hands) & the new Pelt book, both really bolstered the prices. A great deal VHTF w/ some nearly impossible to find in mint condition.
akroorka
Well, a simple answer, they are not that easy to find nationwide. They made some great color combos (too many to count) and they come in multiple sizes. They also are known for defects, so a mint, no defect marble is primo. There may be some commons, but really not that common, not any more at least. They are an early manufacturer from a place not in WV or Ohio. Collectors are all in on something else-rebels so to speak--rebels collect Pelts, rebels against the norm and I love it. Marble on Illinois!! Swirls with multiple colors are Kings in the world of machine made marbles. The Peltiers rival those of Akro Agate-almost LOL. Marble On!!
wvrons
Demand sets prices. A lot can change with marbles in five years. New information and new collectors appear every week. Both of those affect prices. A lot of glassware prices have dropped off bad. But marbles are still climbing and more collectors than ever.
wvrons
I don't know of many Akro marbles that will compete with prices of Peltiers. Not many single Akros sell for $2000.00 and more. There is a long list of Peltiers for $1000.00 and longer list for $500.00 Peltiers. A Peltier mint Green Lantern now might command $3000.00 . I have seen more than one Blue Galaxy for $2000.00. How about Silver Surfer, Blue Lagoon, Green Rebel, Goblin, Orians Belt and many more, all way above Golden Rebel. What Akro single marbles compete with those ? If you are going to be a serious Peltier collector, you better have a good bank account. The prices forced me to sell most of the above. My Peltier collection got very thin. But the prices were nice. Prices going up so much is driving many to collecting Cat Eyes, which I predicted ten years ago. Nice rare original mesh bags have disappeared. Some original 100 count Peltier box sets have sold for $20,000.00 and more.
jhomer2172
I can understand the increase in prices for Millers and NLRs but 12-15.00 for a rainbo? Maybe for a really different one, but for an average baseball type? Guess I better hold on to my NLRs!! Never could afford the Blue Galaxy. Thanks for the input, what is the new book you referred to? That'd be the book, I got mine right from Sami less than a week after it was released. My opinion is probably a bit on the wayward side being a Pelt Head myself !!
