One more shot, a good one too!

After I took this shot, the true intention made itself known...he was dining on this lone piece of greenery! I say lone because it was the only one in the whole parking lot (waiting for car repair). Amazing how the critter found it!

Another little project I finished last week. Before, my little Willow's base was circled with ordinary, red border stone. Decided to switch it up and give it a nice mulch bed flanked by little flower boxes 😊

My yard, roughly 75% of it, is a steady slope. Not really too steep but a steady grade nonetheless. That's how it goes when you live at the base of a hill!

  • 3 weeks later...

Besides the brickwork around the %^&***willow above, got all this done in the past few weeks...these stepping stones in the middle yard (love the new grass that came in)....new brick border around the young crab apple tree....that eyesore of an area where that huge hole was. Filled the hole and got this as a result...3 flowerboxes out front....and new border around the mulch beds along the house. Plus still have about 100 pieces of that big ornamental border stone in the garage too put to use yet!

Lol, just noticed that the name of my willow tree wasn't "allowed" 😬

I got nailed by a "ground bee" last week.
Right in the Achilles, just minding my business like I did all year--them WHAM!
It took several days for the sting area to show up—what an itch and stinging---it kept me awake—nothing really works.
My wife squeezed it out yesterday---relief--finally!!
The bees are in my compost bin and I was about 30 feet away, nasty little buggers—ground bees are.
Good thing that I like pollinators.

Luckily, we didn't have much of a problem with those this year. Last year, different story as they set up shop in my foundation out front. All it takes is a small crack and those ground bees are on it.

The only time I actually saw them in small groups around the yard this year was at the hummingbird feeders.

This year was the year of the Wasp for me, like the one pictured. I rarely use my front door, and those things had built a sizable nest in between the doors! I burned up a whole can of Black Flag on it. Must have been at least 20-30 of them. And down the street at Patty's son's house, they were infested with them around their garage and shed. Betcha I destroyed close to 20 nest's around both buildings!

I also get those oversized shiny black mud dobbers in the basement once in a while. They are about an inch and a half too two inches in length.

And tonight, from Midnight until 8am, the National Weather Service has issued a frost advisory for my area with temperatures dropping down to the lower 30's. Maybe the next night also. That will slow them down for sure.

BUT, they might make one final appearance for the year because we're supposed to be back up to the lower 70's by the weekend!
