Newton
Hi ya’ll. I’m new to this forum and wow there seems like a lot of great info here. I was referred here so I could perhaps learn more about the history of where and how this marble was made. I posted this on the u/Marbles group on reddit https://www.reddit.com/r/Marbles/comments/10klbg6/i_cant_recall_where_i_got_this_34_marble_or_how/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf and got some initially conflicting feedback but the consensus seem to agree this is a CAC red two tone (possibly three or four) colored slag. Any comments of known or supposed history is welcome. Thanks!
Newton
The marble is 3/4” (or so) and the photos include one flash shot and one backlit shot.
akroorka
Hello Newton, Welcome to the "MarbleConnection". We all hope to see some more of your marbles posted for our pleasure to look at and for ID as well. You will get the best from all of us here--always. There is only one color in slag marbles. Red, green, blue, purple, yellow, etc etc etc--all include white. Yours may be a CAC but more images are needed of the cutoff line. As it stands, with the images that you provided, it is an Akro--a nice one--red imho. Akro "Cardinal Red"--nice marble! I appreciate all opinions and hope for some more. Marble--On!!
Ric
Welcome to the Marble Connection! By definition, slags are two color marbles that are made with white striping glass in a transparent clear or colored base glass. The variation in colors you see is due to the white being submerged under the colored base glass - the depth and thickness of the submerged white can make it look like different shades of the base color. And FWIW, I do not think your marble is a Christensen Agate - Akro seems more likely.

wvrons
I agree with Akro slag. The first marbles produced by the Akro Agate Company in Clarksburg WV. This marble probably made between 1915 to 1930 maybe to 1940 ?
