The Nickel Guy
This is a very pretty marble when you stop and look at it a little more closely. On the left is an image of it taken under LED lights. On the right are my camera flash images. Could this be something a little more special? Thank you kindly.

The Nickel Guy
I am pretty sure it is 5/8th inches. No maker ideas?
akroorka
Just go to"Tractor Supply", "O-Rielly" car parts or your local hardware store and find a little plastic protractor. Lets just keep it in inches here---most of us just hate metric๐คข. Nuff said. Marble--On!!

Fire1981
Itโs tricky. To me the Color Combo is CAC. The tricky part is are the seams โtightโ enough to be CAC. Or are the seams โwiderโ like you find on Foreign Slag๐ฅ RAR

The Nickel Guy
Thank you all! I am surprised to see German here and twice to boot but I think you have something there. Last night I watched this video (again) but it had been awhile.ย Seems each time I watch Stephen Bahrs videos I understand them better. This one was quite on time as I had just posted a few different slags after going through my little collection. On this video they talk about your German marbles starting at around 15:00 and they do point out the large gap mine shows. There are a few with a lot of detail like mine in the bunch they look at. I am not beating my chest here but I think I have an exceptional example of a German slag marble. ย

Carowill
The circles are actually a tiny bit larger than stated, because the size takes into account the pencil mark. ย The inside of the pencil mark would correspond to the stated diameter.

Fire1981
I donโt like mine. I just want one that I can drop a marble in a 5/8 hole and it fits like a ring. Thats all I really wanted for Christmas. Well not all. I do like my new flannel lined shirtโฆ.with snaps. No buttons๐ฅ RAR ย 1
davesnothere
Sloppy seams looks german to me is there anything running through the matrix or is it all on the surface. I have a few german 2 seam slags few I can show you the seams if you likeย
The Nickel Guy
Sure, if you want. Post them Germansย davesnothere I'm still sold on mine being a very intricate German. As far as the holes being slightly larger on the plastic protractor, I like that. You know, I watch even the best marbles get measured by others with the steel calipers and it makes me cringe a bit. I fear that the steel will scratch the glass. I do have those digital calipers that gives me hundredth's of an inch but not fractions. So my measurements have been about 1/10th 3/10th 6/10th 7/10th 9/10th etc. If my marbles falls through the hole onto a soft surface, I'll settle for the smallest size it fell through.

Nuff said, my marble collecting friend. I fill boxes and this template is my go to when sorting, fast efficient and well ---very easy. Cutting hairs with the size--never have been a big fan of this. One after another--millions made--all the same run--size did matter but not that much. Marble--On!!

The Nickel Guy Posted yesterday at 01:24 PM Author Report Share Posted yesterday at 01:24 PM Never heard horizontal transitional before. I can understand the term. With a little imagination, I can see a Road and Tunnel. With a bit more imagination though, I can see an old episode of The Time Tunnel too, but that's just me and no . . . Just too be clear, "transitional corkscrews" is just a descriptor - there are no marbles called "transitional corkscrews".
