Ash1322
ID help needed! These dark colored mibs with wispy white swirls are UV reactive, measure between .61-.62, and have a deep purple hue when backlit. Thoughts on them being Ravenswood, Cairo Novelty, or maybe Jackson?🤔 Your assistance is appreciated!🙂

akroorka
This one is a Vacor "Zebra" imho--just a really nice one. @Mojo has seen more of these weird ones than I ever have. I have no doubt that Vacor uses "cullet", or glass from other companies--this may explain the "glow". @Andy McLaughlin from Alaska has seen even more than @Mojo but he is probably out fishing--he wrote the books on these Vacor "weirdos". I would love him to check in during the luul in fishing/hunting/being an Alaskan—. Marble—On!!

Ash1322
I'm pretty sure Vacor didn’t make Zebras that were UV reactive, but maybe so?🤔 I've been told by a couple of marble folks that they're Ravenswood, Jackson, or Cairo, so I really am lost at this point.😂 I'm looking forward to hearing other opinions in an effort to fully confirm their identity. I appreciate everyone's input thus far!😊
Chad G.
@cheese Chuck will show sooner or later, he's pretty good nailing down these swirls, I think it's vintage myself
cheese
It seems like I already saw this one elsewhere? I think the odds are it's Jackson with a possibility of Alox. It's not foreign or modern. I would put it with Jackson. 2

Haven't seen any with uranium yet.

duotone
This was the discussion. Similar, but not the same marble:
Ash1322
Thanks to everyone for your knowledge and feedback, as it's much appreciated! I believed the marbles to be Jackson, but a couple of other folks threw in options of Ravenswood and Cairo Novelty, so that's when I got lost in translation.😂 To further my ID investigation, these next 4 marbles are similar in that they have a deep purple hue, yet are opaque when backlit, the white swirls are thicker, but are not UV reactive, and measure between .59 - .62, so do y'all think they're also Jackson or...?🤔🔎 @cheese I'd really like to hear your expertise on these specific swirls, if you don't mind chiming in again, sir.😃
cheese
I think EVERY WV swirl maker other than Mid Atlantic made them in this color combo. That makes it hard enough in and of itself. Being familiar with pattern is most useful with them. Most Jacksons I've seen in this color don't glow. So that is a hint against Jackson IMO, but Jackson used a lot of glowing glass so I wouldn't be surprised to find some that do. I should go check all mine again. Alox wasn't in WV but they also made them in this color combo and some of theirs do glow. Maybe Alox is a better choice for the ones that glow? Alox pattern can be very much like Jackson. Size is right for either. Maybe when things slow down from the holidays I will pull out some Jacksons and Alox in this color combination and see what differences I can discern, if any. We've got family staying with us right now, so it will be a while. This color combo is one of the hardest to differentiate.
