The Nickel Guy
In a batch of marbles I bought today, this one was a standout. That is until I saw the other side. The deal was done and no need to cry over spilt milk but I really like that combination. I have seen them before. I did get a beautiful red over white translucent base corkscrew though which eased the pain a little. Corks are my weakness.

Tell me about it--if you ever get a corkcrew in a trade with me--you are getting blood--my blood. I just love these things regardless of condition. Marble--On!! 1
Royal3
I feel your pain Nickel Guy - one of the favorite corks I found in my dad’s old Akro #200 box was this flawed beauty: Being a complete novice at that point I thought I’d just find a mint example of it, no problem. Silly me lol.

It's a beauty, and very unusual. Good luck finding a mint one. The challenge will be that if an Akro collector ever sees one, they're going to buy it - you're going to need some extraordinary luck!

I do have one like my chunked mib as shown in first post that is a little smaller and in unharmed condition. It has joined a ever growing population of damaged vintage marbles in a fruit basket that once held blueberries. I meant it was a standout (my favorite at first glance) in the envelope with the other dozen or so. I assumed it was mint, the rest looked so nice but this one was the casualty. When I got home I saw the whack. I may be strange but I don't care for damaged marbles of that degree and they will go. Maybe I'll make some kind of plaster or concrete art with them this summer. Maybe a platform of some kind to set my marble display on?

Ric, I eventually did find a mint one at a marble show many years later after a LOT of searching - and it wasn’t cheap, but it and the damaged one both still have homes here since I think dad loved that one, too.

When my father passed away quite a few years ago, I found a few marbles he had stashed away in a trunk with some other childhood stuff. Among them were two of the much more typical blue on orange corkscrews and two patches to match - must have been some of his favorites.
Fire1981
WHOA ! That Cork is insane. I could care less if it’s been in the Ring. The color Combo is off the charts🔥 RAR
