Just FYI, Akro may have used the term "onyx" to describe a few different marbles but most collectors use Onyx to refer to marbles that have a white spiral in colored base glass, since that is what Akro called them in their Salesman cases and literature.

Popeye boxes did rarely involve this type of marble—oxbloods.
It would never have been an “add on”—just part of a group of oxbloods in a “Popeye box”. Rare to find but “Popeye Boxes” have a list of different sizes and contents.
We are all familiar with the basic “Popeye Box” but there are more out there in different sizes and contents.
Marble—On!!
