The bottom section is the same a the bottom sections used in the Reg'lar Fellers six section game box. That also holds 3 pinch pontil Japanan made marbles from the early 30's. Nice find. Art

WOW! I knew that you were heavy into marble collecting, but I never knew that you also collected dogs.

Any more thoughts on a value for this one? I may bring it to Decatur just to show. Art

It's 8 3/4" in diameter and fairly heavy as you'd expect for ironstone. My guess is that its English ironstone because of the popularity of the game over there during Victoriania. I guess you can find almost anything at a Wisconsin estate sale. Art

This is the only one I've ever seen of these except in the Mareble Mania book. It has a few edge chips but not too bad for its age. Probably early Victorian. Anyone want to hazard a guess as to its value? I haven't got a clue and could use some HELP ! Art

This one is an onionskin, not enough colors to be a josephs coat. I had a beautiful mega color josephs coat that was loaded with mica about 7 or 8 years ago and like a fool I sold it at a show. Only one I've ever seen.Luckily I bought a kicking machine and when I do something as dumb as that I just go home, bend over and plug it in. Come to think of it I've used it a lot.

Don: If I were buying it with the idea of repairing and refilling it I wouldn't go much higher than $150 to $200. It'll never be the rarity it was when new and will be a looooong project. Art

I'd also recommend Marblemania by Bob Block. You can pick up a used copy of the early edition at a reasonable price. Good pictures for identification and you'll save money so you can buy more marbles. Art

Peltier also made a fluorescent slag. I had some in a Lucky Boy box several years ago. Art

Galen: Here are some pics of the 150 tin with the metal tab corners. It's a really clean tin and tthe latch isn't even split. I have no reason to believe that it's anything other than original. I bought it at New Phila back in the early 90's. I've only seen one other with metal corners. Art

Yes, the inserts are the usual yellow cardboard stock, but with metal tab corners. Art

What is rally hard to find is an original tin with the metal tab corners on the inserts like on the early 100 count boxes. I have a 150 original tin with the small black bag tha has a waffle-like surface and the metal corner tabs on the inserts that I got at New Phila about 15 years ago. My guess is that the inserts with metal tabs went in the earliest of the 150 tins. I've never seen one of the 200 tins with metal corners on the inserts but if they're on the 150's they might also be on the 200's. Art

I didn't tell the story so that I could sell the marble for a high price. I was given the marble by Keith and I in turn gave it to someone who had befriended me and whom I have never met. I hope that the marble is returned to her. And to close out this posting I would also recommend that the conspiracy theorists put their theories where the sun don't shine. End of post. Art

I think it's time to end all of the speculation and give you the story behind this marble. About 10 years or so ago I attended one of the Ottowa marble shows when it was held at the old Glassworkers Union Hall. There was a man walking around with a Lucky Boy #32 box and asking $1250 for it. I looked at the box and it contained a complete mint set of Peltier comics as well as 20 other very nice NLR's and others. He said that he had won it in a marble tournament in Ottowa when he was 14. His name was painted in the inside cover in red nail polish: "Keith Rorhem" (I hope I spelled that right). We dickered a little, but he was firm about the price. He also had a lined pad with him that had a listing of all of the other comic marbles that he had at home. He had thousands. At the time I was trying to complete a Peltier 5 count box with all 2 color (no white) comics. I asked him if he had a two color Annie and he said that he had one at home and if that would cinch the deal he'd go home and get it. He returned in about 15 or 20 minutes with the Annie and this confetti marble which his dad had brought home with him from work. His dad was the Secretary-Traaurer of the union in the 30's or 40's and very often brought pockets full of marbles home for Keith. He said that this marble was an experimental one and Keith gave it to me as part of the deal. I've had this marble in my display box for many years until last year when I posted on this board looking for a few cyan blue peltier feathered slags to fill a Lucky Boy #21 box. Several board members were kind enough to help me and in turn I sent them some marbles for their collections. I also sent the above information for provenence on this marble. I have some red clearies that have an identical base red color as this one that I got from an antique dealer who got it in a box at a rummage sale in Horicon WI last year. The box was marked from the Peltier Co to a toy store and originally held 1000 marbles, but the box was badly torn and there were only about several hundred left. The original #32 box is now in a collection in Kentucky along with the original newspaper articles of Keith winning the marble tournament that he sent me several years ago. Sadly, Keith passed away last year after retiring from the post office. Some of you might remember him from Amana when about 8 or 10 years ago he brought Tote boxes full of Pelt comics to the show. He said that he sold about 90 mint sets that year, and sold many hundreds of others over the next few years. I was told that another blue confetti marble exists in Ottowa but I've never seen it. I hope that this post dispelles any doubts that the marble is truely a pelt experimental. IT's a story that you couldn't make up. Art Jones
