  1. i saw that one on ebay a week or so ago, pretty neat, never seen another one like it.
  2. zigafoose - yes, in my opinion buffed or polish marbles are not keepers. I also have strong feelings about nicks or dings on machine mades, especially popeyes. If it has one slight imperfection it's not a keeper. There are however exceptions, such as handmades, slags and bricks, they are keepers if they have a ding if the rest of the marble is wet. It's just my opinion though, it does not mean anything.
  3. Kevin, my experience(started in 1993) is that there are more good than bad, but there are for sure people out there that will play games. I'm sure its just as bad in the other antique hobbies. I just bought a handmade that was buffed, didnt realize it until I got it home. I only paid 20.00 for it but still... I should be more careful. I gave it to my daughter to play with, it wont end up back in circulation.
  4. damn, 77.00 to 5800.00. thats a hell of a turn around. wonder if that thing is some type of remelt of cutlet, but Alan would have spotted it. Very cool find.

  11. whatever happened to this guy? All I could find was this on the internet. Hello all frustrated marble consigners. Im posting this blog to see if anyone out there has had any payment regarding the last auction Mike Cull run under Marquee marble auctions. If he is unwell then perhaps someone knows. If not any contact info for him would be greatefully appreciated since im getting the feeling we are all being taken for a ride! A disgruntled consigner -------------------------------------- doc said... Hi, I was constantly lied to about receiveing my money. As I have heard there were financial problems before the May auct.( which I was not paid for either ) Yet he did not mind going to Europe for a month spending our consignment money. He is basically a common thief and con man. drjohn 26 November 2008 10:54 ARGENTOR said... Hi Doc Thanks for your input. Im compiling a list of people who he owes money too as i have started a legal case. Feel free to email me your details and if you know anyone else he owes money too do ask them to drop me a line. He wont get away with this! thanks The more people we have on this the better as the marble collecting community should rally together to catch this man! thanks argentor 28 November 2008 01:04
  12. This was the 2nd year for this show. They already booked the hotel for next year. It's a small show but the Holiday inn is super nice with an large indoor pool, putt putt golf, big hot tub. The hotel is really a neat find, I guess its one of the old Holidromes if you remember those from years ago. Marble statues and all kinds of odd antique decorations, very interesting place. The food was great. They had a prime rib and crab leg all you can eat buffet. I decided Pizza was best because I had my daughter with me. The pizza was outstanding. If you are looking to relax a bit, this is a good show for you. Picked up some nice marbles from Romanoak, thanks again Bill. Columbus Ohio is next, see ya there. Greg
  13. I just called to make a reservation. They are still giving the show rate of 89.00, but the hotel is just about booked up tight.
  14. calling now to get my reservations. See ya thursday evening.
  15. yellow is sweet. Let me know if you want to sell any of the mint examples. Greg
  16. who's going? I will be there probably friday night.
  17. I think the champion furnace marbles win. Jabo's are nice but there is something about those original furnace marbles.
  18. u really need a loop or magnifying glass to see swirls on the surface or small pits which will reveal traces of white buffing compound
