  1. The Seattle area has a lot of good people collecting marbles, I hope he finds out who the thief is.
  2. I recently visited a local antique store in Maltby, WA that I have bought marbles, and other items, from for years. He used to keep the marbles in a case in the back room, opening it for regulars to look at. He had a lot of older mibs in bags, pricing them per mib. Recently he decided to change things around, and move the marbles up front. He found a bunch of empty bags stuffed under the case, indicating people he trusted had been stealing from him. I was crushed, as he had no idea who was doing it, and suspected all of us. My wife and I have always been scrupulously honest in dealing with him on all purchases. he bagged all of them together in $10 bags, over 100 bags in total. All sealed, so no individual inspection possible. Very sad…
  3. I stopped in a local antique store today and went thru a booths marble box. Been looking in it for 4 years on a regular basis, $1/mib. Found a MK hybrid that matched a set of 5 I found locally a few years back. What are the odds? I took it to the cashier and excitedly, with a stupid grin, told her her “I found one of my marbles”, she lost it. Definitely made both our day.
  4. I am at the point where I will buy a jar of marbles just to get a single keeper, then give the jar back to the seller. I have too many commons and contemps already in jars. It makes me happy, and the seller is thrilled to be able to resell the jar👍👍👍
  5. Great pics! I can’t do it myself, if I can’t use my phone, I’m lost. Camera-to-Pc-to-edit-to savetofiles to post online, I have a serious aversion to.
  6. Been looking 25 years, never found one in the wild, or the apple… congtats!!
  7. Just found that same piece on eBay for $275 BIN.😱😱🤔 https://www.ebay.com/itm/254870252480?hash=item3b57736bc0:g:7csAAOSwKoFgLDOc
  8. On eBay…Stonecrafters AKRO ashtray https://www.ebay.com/itm/255107051473
  9. Bacon (read that as Vacor using autospell) has made great improvements replicating American classics…🤬🤬🤬
  10. I seem to remember Bert from FLA having tears in his eyes after getting a couple at the 2008 Sistersville show.
  11. Not seeing AKRO or Vitro….🤔🤔🤔
  12. I need to see it in hand, send it over😁 looking peltish to me
  13. I remember Galen Wilcox saying he would throw marbles on playgrounds for kids to find. Living on the beach, I like to shoot marbles onto the beach with my wrist rocket. The neighborhood kids routinely wander the beach, not sure if they have found them yet.
  14. We sell antiques at local shows. I always bag up a bunch of mibs for the kids, along with a cigar box to keep them in. I give them away until gone. The look on the kids faces is priceless when getting a free gift. The parents are also appreciative for something that is physical, not a video game. hopefully someday when I sell my collection, those kids will be there.
  15. Was it this pic? Glad to have been able to share.
  16. I thought you could only have AKROs in an AKRO bowl😱😱😱
  17. I went thru a 5gallon jug of mibs one day for a local dealer, probably spent 3 hours separating and pricing for her. I told her at the outset that I would not be offering to buy any of them, I was just having fun doing it. At the end of this, she gave me about 20 of the most collectible mibs as payment. I was humbled.
  18. Nice score!!! So, how many marbles were there in total? Typically, IMHO 10% or so are keepers like you posted…
  19. Don’t you need a permit for that many😆😆😆😆
  20. Here’s some of mine. I’ve got one that is similar to the “French drain” example. Not sure where it came from.
  21. We just had a few similar bill ourselves…still cheaper than real kids, IMHO.
