  1. It could well be a Blue Devil but I'm having a hard time deciphering this one. The best ones have plenty of that nice Vitro pinkish-lavender color on them.
  2. I'm no Vitro expert but they look like early Tri-Lites to me - nice ones too, IMO.
  3. Nice old Vitros. The left two are Tri-Lites - the first one is really nice. And regulation Shooters can't be over are 3/4" so I'd call these boulders.
  4. The JABO has a name . . . Green Eggs and Ham, I think. And I want to say 1997 but I could be wrong about that.
  5. I knew Scott for many years and I extend my most sincere condolences to those who loved him. Scott was an exceptionally skilled marble maker with a larger-than-life personality, a mischievous nature, and a reputation to match. In my experience, he was a kind and empathetic person, and I always looked forward to spending time with him when I could. No doubt, I will miss seeing him around the shows. RIP my friend.
  6. That top marble is really sweet, Gladys. If the base is opalescent (looks it to me), it is one of the coolest Vitro Opals I have ever seen!
  7. I think it is probably the same type as your avatar, and I think Art suggested that was a Vacor Zebra?
  8. Nice, Tommy. I'm digging this one - nice gold colored base!
  9. There are quite a few named Alley marbles but I do not think this is one of them. The type is commonly referred to as a swirl. Alley is one of the several West Virginia companies that made them. And many of those companies produced very similar marbles - sometimes it is very difficult to attribute a particular marble to a particular company, in which case, they are commonly referred to as "West Virginia Swirls". I think yours is an Alley Swirl.
  10. I have not heard that name associated with an Alley marble so I don't know. And it is not the Peltier marble called a Pine Needle.
  11. Well there is AV in some Alleys other than Shimmering Spruces. I guess I'm just not seeing it in the video.
  12. Here is a link to a couple of Shimmering Spruces that jeeperman posted. Click on the "March 6, 2014" date to go straight to the pics.
  13. Welcome to the forum, Matt. It does look like an Alley but it is unlike any Shimmering Spruce I've seen. Are you sure that you are seeing AV and not pinprick surface damage or tiny bubbles? They can be deceiving. Here is a Blue Spruce for comparison. And here is some green AV on a different type of Alley . . .
  14. Yeah, you could tap it on one of your front teeth too - totally different feel and sound than glass. But I wouldn't recommend that unless you really find it out in the wild like one of Tommy's stones - who knows where those marbles have been - yuck!

    Vitro

I think the UV glow and the opalescence are often unrelated since you can find Vitros with one or the other or both, like yours. But I am not sure if they are always unrelated. I'm sure it depends on which colorants are used. And you probably would get better exposure posting questions like this one in the ID forum. The "Help" forum is more for "technical issues" associated with the function of the forum.
  16. Type 2 Tiger Eyes with a couple of Easter Eggs up front . . .

    VITRO?

Yes, Du-Lite if the transparent is clear, Tri-Lite if not.
  18. Ric

    Vitro ?

And that orange and purple color combo is pretty common on those too.
  19. Ric

    Vitro ?

Looks like it might be Vitro, just all twisted up.
