  1. Champion left and Ravenswood right. Transparent red/orange is not common on the Champions.
  2. I was wondering what that was - Satan makes more sense now. The hand gesture does too.
  3. This is all great stuff - the opener and holder are super. Does anyone recognize the character? He's got interesting hand gestures, legs and feet . . . reminds me a little of Pan.

    Vitro ID

Well, that will keep you busy. Have you seen Chuck's Chart?
  5. Here is a selection of Alley Agates from the Lawrence Glass Novelty Company site in Sistersville WV. One hundred and forty-four different marbles are shown (sizes vary considerably). Please excuse the dirt, out of rounds, as-mades and poor photos. All of these marbles were dug. Enjoy! P.S. I buy mint examples - PM me!
  6. John, Did Ron ID the Sistersville too? It looks a lot like some Ravenswoods. And I haven't seen a Sistersville quite like it.
  7. Whether or not you pull that pic off is entirely up to you. If you trust the ID, leave it. Anyone coming here should understand that IDing marbles is as much art as science. I am actually more interested in that Sistersville. And since I feel sort of bad about so much talk in a "Mostly Pics" thread, here is a Sistersville Alley - dug at the site.
  8. Is that what they'd call a Grenier?
  9. Well, that's interesting, and the time-frame seems right too.
  10. I prefer to be very cautious with IDs. I have seen too many people call "definite" IDs on marbles based on a couple of photos and very little knowledge about other possibilities or variations that are out there. And I know from experience that the first tests returned are often the lowest scores in the class, usually because the student thinks they know far more than they actually do. Don't get me wrong here, that marble might be Alley, but I am not confident enough to go there "for sure", and I have seen Ravenswoods with similar patterns. Having said that, if there is a green tint in the base running along the red (first pic?) I would probably lean Alley too. I also have not seen a Sistersville Alley like the one you posted. What do you know about that one?
  11. Oooh, I like that . . . you sure about Alley? It'd be a killer Ravenswood.

    These 3 swirls

    Nice marbles. Maybe old Champions?

    Curious Coral?

    I want it. . . .badly.
  14. I'd like to see another view or two.
  15. Nice snag, Jeeper. It's a keeper. Not my strong suit, but FWIW, it looks Navarre to me. Regardless, I like it!
  16. Wow is right. It's an amazing collection. And that has to be about the coolest bowling item I have ever seen, if that's what it really is!
  17. In your first message, you said "The room block closes February 22", which is today. Has the deadline been extended?
  18. It looks like a metallic substance to me, and it is crazy cool!
  19. Is the difference 4 ribbons (clear) vs. 6 ribbons (fruit)?
  20. I like it best with mac & cheese under it.
