  1. Cool black stripe, Galen. The green on a red face is cool too. In my experience, helmets with a stripe other than red or orange are less common - yellow on a green face seems to be one of the more common of them.
  2. Very cool, Dave . . . Anti-Spotted Dicks . . .?
  3. I agree that the big ones and multicolored ones are harder to find. I also think that the "pinchers" or Mt. Fuji's are distinct from the Wales marbles but . . .? These are as found in a tin-litho Whitman chinese checkers game.
  4. Nice group - thanks for posting them. When you say pink base, are you referring to transparent base glass . . . maybe the color some refer to as peach? I have several of those. In my experience, they are not as uncommon as ones with brick/blood stripes. I only have a couple of those. They are all kept with my Vitros.
  5. Continental Europe is believed to be the origin of the marbles referred to as Spotted Dicks, some of which may be dark brown with white spots. Does anyone have any information or pictures of such marbles?
  6. Those are great examples, Galen. I especially like the second one. It would be really cool if you could find matching striped opaques!
  7. Nice, Winnie. Purple and gold is sort of an unusal color combo - I like it. And the "rolled-fold" construction is cool too. Thanks for showing it.
  8. I was hoping you'd see this one, Clyde. Thanks for the confirmation. I had a feeling I'd seen or heard of a metallic bruiser before. How common/uncommon are they - any ideas?
  9. Sorry about all the reflections . . . it's about 5/8". The base is dark green transparent that looks black in normal light. The blue patch has a metal ribbon in it and wanders sort of like a script Vitro "V". It reminds me a lot of a Bruiser but . . . ? Any thoughts? Thanks.
  10. I'm not sure whose but it doesn't look Pelty to me either.
  11. I'm with Steph, I think it's a Conqueror variant. I have a few with that brown patch. In my experience they are less common than other colors.
  12. I agree with BJ . . . It looks like something from The American Marble & Toy Manufacturing Co. - kind of a spongeware pattern, I think.
  13. Interesting for sure. A few look hand gathered. A few look like typical German handmades. I think even a good cleaning would help. Hmmmm . . .
  14. Heres a more direct link: http://www.ebay.com/itm/251047917305 I'm thinking JABO with a slight chance of Champion.
  15. I'm not real good at this but it does look like it to me. And seeing this one - http://www.ebay.com/itm/MARBLES-VINTAGE-3-4-AKRO-AGATE-UNUSUAL-WILD-CORKSCREW-HAND-DUG-/200749247185?pt=Marbles&hash=item2ebd966ad1 I'd be wary.
  16. Happy Birthday, Ron. I hope all your wishes come true!
  17. I think the grid is part of a light diffuser often used with recessed fluorescent lighting. You can pick it up at most home improvement stores.
  18. A little different . . . I like it a lot!
  19. i.e., about the only thing the seller left out of the listing title.
  20. Any chance you would show a couple of pics? I'd appreciate it.
  21. A coupla killers for sure - the rest are just exceptional! Sweet marbles!
  22. I don't know if scheduling a show between Thanksgiving and New Years, when many people are busy with holidays and family, is such a good idea. I think that is a significant part of why attendance at the Hannibal show had fallen off so much in recent years. And currently, in the Midwest, we have the Crossroads of America show in September, The Badger Marble Club Show in October, The Pride of the Prarie Show in November and the Indianapolis Show at the beginning of January and the Buckeye show in February. The area may be saturated already. Having said that, I'd probably drive the hour to be there. lol.
  23. Check this, Craig: http://marbleconnect...post__p__110161 and this too: http://marbleconnection.com/topic/12981-peewee-friday/page__view__findpost__p__110166
  24. Not a Big 10 fan huh? lol. It's top row center. Go Michigan!
