  1. Winnie, I hope you don't mind my adding another to the thread. The pattern on this one is not as well organized, and being white and clear transparent it's really hard to photograph, but it looks Peltish to me. Anyone have any thoughts?
  2. Al's given good advice, as usual, so I will only add that if you haven't seen this thread http://marblemental.yuku.com/topic/388/Show-off-your-Cat-s-eyes#.Tlp9RF1yyi8 already, you'll likely find it enjoyable and enlightening.
  3. Nice marbles. I particularly like the Vitro with the yellow and green patches.
  4. I do believe marbles were used as prizes in cereal boxes during the mid - late 50s (maybe into the 60s). The tubes I've seen are cellophane. Most have Marble Kings or Vitros in them. Yours appear to be a mix and include some swirls. Nine marbles per pack seems to be more than I'm used to seeing too.
  5. Cool, I like the oddball stuff too! Here's a 1 1/8" triple . . . and a double with its' single . . .
  6. Nice marble, Winnie. The one I posted is just under 9/16". What size is this one?
  7. Yeah, Clyde, I screwed up big-time not getting a look at the marbles you brought. This is the type of slag I was referencing though. It's about 9/16" and I'd call it ice or baby blue There do seem to be some similarities in the pattern but the one I initially posted just doesn't strike me as a slag so . . . ??? And I'm pretty clueless when it comes to HGs anyway, especially if it's a less common type or an atypical one.
  8. I use a hosting service and am able to upload pics exactly the same way that I always have . . . just clean living I guess.
  9. Hi Al, It's just to the right of the emoticon button in the top toolbar. You can see it in Stephs post #30.
  10. I've gotta admit, Charles, The possibility of a machine-spun swirl crossed my mind too but it doesn't show irregularities on the surface like so many of those I've seen and the HG-look would be pretty remarkable for those too . It's a peculiar marble, for sure.
  11. I thought it was a little different but figured it might be the touch of clear transparent throwing me a bit. Regardless, it doesn't strike me as a slag. It's primarily white with color that appears to be on the surface. Although it does seem there is a little transparency in the red. Heck, I'll be even happier if it's a Pelt, and I have to admit that the first thing it reminded me of was those reverse-twist slags Galen has shown before. Any pics available of similar from Pelt? Here are a few more pics, and thanks for letting me know what you think. I don't know enough about the HG Pelts to even go there with any confidence.
  12. Rich, I think the point is that the probability this question can be answered with hard evidence, or beyond a reasonable doubt with circumstantial evidence, is near nil. So it is highly probable that it will be a useless conversation with respect to finding an answer to the original question.
  13. Mint 21/32" with a nice gather and some great reverse twist motion.
  14. Cool marble. I've seen a a number of these big ones. Is there any basis for the idea that some were made for industrial applications, like pump valves, etc.?
  15. Cool, Mike - it was wise to go with your gut and put those aside!
  16. That is really cool! I'm noticing the deadbolt cutout, is it an exterior door?
  17. Is a Sprite a green-based Sunset or a different type of marble? Any thoughts? Thanks.
  18. Steph, Thanks for the pic. I'd not seen similar before. What do you believe about them now? And Roger, I was thinking Pelt on the first one I posted too. The group pic are MKs for sure. I posted them for comparison purposes. Are the cross-through Pelts hard to find?
  19. Big John, I thought maybe MK too, and you're right about the odd colors, but the glass and construction look quite different to me too, so I'm thinking about other possibilities.
  20. Nice find, Duffy - great colors. Are they newer?
  21. I have my ideas, but I'm interested to hear others' thoughts.
  22. This one will be in Canton. Look me up if you'd like to see it.
  23. Nice lot, Galen. Although, I should tell you, Ron's Sponsor from Marbleholics Anonymous called last night and asked for my help. Apparently, Ron has fallen off the wagon. Please don't be an enabler. He needs our help. And I'd be very happy to help you help him by removing those temptations from circulation.
  24. That does look mighty inviting . . .
