Good info, Ron - thanks. Do you think looking at the base glass helps? It seems to me that the Heaton glass quality might be a little less than Peltier's - a bit more bubbly and not quite as bright. You know, the clear on the Pelt bananas is usually about as good as it gets.

I agree on the Pincers too, and that first marble looks like a cute little guy - it'd be nice to see another shot or two of it. And just a heads-up, if you position yourself so any shadows are more-or-less behind the marbles you'll get a much better image.

The marble looks a little surreal. That doesn't look like a cut line to me. It looks more like a crease in the middle of a fold. One of the seams is at the end of the ribbon, if I am seeing things correctly. The other is probably on the other side of the crease about the same distance away.

Nice, multicolor Heatons - they can't be too common. Still mine!

Thanks a lot, Al. I am pretty sure that second photo is the one Patry originally posted in this thread back in November of 2007, and she was right when she said they are hard to find too.

There's not a lot to go on with these pics. It's not a helmet. I am not even positive it's a Vitro, although it may well be. Helmets usually have ear flaps (more or less) and a stripe down the center. Here are a couple of Chad's from a different thread.

Nice display. I like the signs too. I have flats of stuff I sorted years ago. A couple of weeks ago I came across one and it took me a few minutes to figure out what they where. But then, there's a real good chance I have way too many marbles.

That's a nice group of marbles. On first pass, I think I only saw a couple that are foreign, and you have Akro, Vitro, Peltier, Marble King, Alley, and perhaps other companies represented too - not a bad find.

I think you got them, Tommy. The only one I might question is #3 but it may well be Alley too. The first one with bright white and yellow on that cream/tan base is a nice one. Yellow like that is not too common on Alleys.

That's a cool one, Tommy. Purple Cat's Eyes are a bit harder to find, at least for me.

Those are great photos, Bill. Are you using your phone or a camera?

It would be great if someone had a copy of Patry's original pic and could repost it here, since there is a long story behind these marbles, which are now positively identified as Ravenswood, and Patry's were the first ones many of us had seen. Here are a couple of mine for reference. And Kudos again to Alan for providing the community with such an excellent resource. It took a lot of work to put together, for sure, and I for one one really appreciate it - I have for years!

I'm leaning Alley on the swirl. The other two are weird. Like you, I'd say Akro or Master and because of the colors, maybe more likely Akro - that white seems a little too bright for Master.

Hello Edward, It looks like a nice book and it's always fun to see different variations of marble games. But I would probably most enjoy the pictures since, Meine deutschen Sprachkenntnisse sind schlecht und verkehrt herum sind sie schrecklich! Because I only had two years of German language in high school, and that was about 45 years ago. I had to check with a translator just to make sure I got that sentence close. 😄

Thanks to all for the thoughts. It's a tad undersized at 19/32". I initially thought MK because of that long seam - the other seam and the that blue/green color are what threw me off that idea. I guess I'd not seen an MK like it before. If it is a MK, is it newer,? Does it have a name besides "hybrid"? Seems like it should - it's a pretty marble.

Master is the other possibility.

Oh yeah, I like it even better with a little twist!

I noticed that too . . . not sure I have one like that, but since my memory isn't what it used to be, I'd have to check pretty good before I commit. On the other hand, if Ron hasn't seen one, I probably haven't either. It does look like something I'd recall.

And this is my set-up. An Ottlite with a piece of gray felt strapped to it with a rubber band (still waiting for that 15 year old gray t-short to wear out - then I'll use a piece of it instead). The box is only a temporary tripod. I don't know where my chunk of two-by-four went. Pretty fancy, huh? lol

I've been using a Sony DSC-T200 since they were new (a long time ago) and I hope it never dies. It's basically a point and shoot with a zoom and a couple of macro options. It has everything you need and just enough other stuff to get great marble photos, or get yourself in trouble if you're a photo dolt like me and you mess with it too much. I'll bet you could still find one on EBay. I've bought new batteries and SD cards for it there fairly recently. 🙂
