  1. Did Peltier ever market aventurine or "sparkle" or anything similar? If they produced it intentionally and consistently, it seems they would have benefited by doing so.
  2. I suppose it is only a marble by the broadest definition. But being hand made, it is certainly art by almost any definition. Personally, I think it is beautiful and an excellent example Alloway's art.
  3. I played marbles quite a bit as a kid in the 60s. On rainy days, we played ringer inside using string to make the ring.
  4. I thought Bananas were first too. But perhaps we need to more clearly define Cat's Eyes because I have also heard the term applied to the single-vane Masters, some of which I think were also quite early.

    Drake's Cake Mesh Bag

Oh wow, I'm really glad I asked. I like the big shooter swirl in yours. But makes me wonder even more about their QC - 11 + shooter? The others are great, too, bad they have Pelts in them. lol I would like to see the green one up close - it's really nice!
  6. Very nice marble - in need of a bath. The base looks green to me too, which also explains why it looks brownish where the color is just below the surface.
  7. It seems strong electromagnetic fields could have some effect on animals and other living things but I have no idea what, if anything, is documented. Grab that tube and just think about it like stepping into the matrix . . .
  8. Bob, Chad told me about your Dad. Thanks for letting us know they arrived home safely. I hope he's back at it soon!

    Drake's Cake Mesh Bag

Hey Al, How many of these Drake's bags have you seen? Would you say they are uncommon? And you're right, for me it's marbles first. But I LOVE bags - with WV Swirls in them. lol.
  10. Here is an uncommon Drake's Cake mesh bag with Alley marbles. I picked it up at the Des Moines Show, which was very active when I visited on Friday. Interestingly, it has a 1/3 marble piece in it along with 15 whole marbles - poor QC I guess.
  11. I had/have a red one that I thought was MK too.
  12. Some kind of an ornamental piece. It might be worth something to someone but . . . ?

    Seen In The Park

Please forgive my bad joke in advance . . . I guess it takes one to know one. :-)
  14. Sort of looks like a multicolor minus one color. I may have some similar ones.
  15. The first and third look good and I think you may be right about the middle being Akro.
  16. Thanks Mon, The red looks good for sure. The blue base is really nice. Although, I have not seen that size or quality from Kokomo before. It looks too good to be true. lol. Good eye on the transparent tree John!

    Marbles as feedstock . . .
  18. It says, "Larger images display only at the Library of Congress". Anyone close? lol
  19. I think it is Sarah Hyland, with following eyes . . .
  20. I think it's a close relative of the other one.

I have seen Alleys in Sure Shot Boxes and they also had Alleys in 6 ct. Big Boy mesh bags. And I wonder if the Champion Bag Marbles were really the Glass Marbles shown upper right because that looks like it could be a poor rendition of the obverse of the early Marble King bags, which also had Alleys in 25 and 40 ct. But then, Champion Agate also had 25 & 40 ct bags and I associate the the 100 ct. Big Value Assortment with Peltier so . . . ?
  22. Marsupials are very different animals.
