  1. Nice marbles, Roger. The big one reminds me of this one, which I thought was Akro . . .
  2. Me too, Clyde . . . just never seen it on a white base. Ruby Slippers in the center?
  3. . . . just a flashlight. I've never seen this salmon color on a plain old white 'bo . . .anyone else?
  4. Nice marble, Duffy - great size too.
  5. That's cool, Scott. It sounds really interesting. I wish I could make it. Maybe you could post the story and some pics here after the debut in KC. I sure would appreciate it. P.S. I would also appreciate it if you would use a bigger font . . . it's really teeny on my screen.
  6. I think it might be a JABO. I saw a similar one in a well known collector's keeper cork case. His had two colors. He put it there on purpose to see if people could pick it out. Truth is, I saw authentic Akros in that case that looked less Akro than that JABO. They might be one in a million or even more rare, but they are out there, and I think this might be one of them.
  7. Wow Edna, those are some great contemporaries . . . the Gong is ethereal. Here are a couple of more Vitros . . . one of my favorite types.
  8. The first ones I posted were Vitro and so are these . . . This seems to have been a pretty common color combination for Vitro.
  9. That's cool, Edna. It looks like a lot of fun. Thanks for showing the pics.
  10. I've looked at marbles under real optical microscopes before too and it really can be a little scary. Basically, I decided I didn't care for it . . . too depressing. But it's an old-time marble collector who told me, for collecting purposes, "if you can't see it with your own vision, it may as well not be there", and I agree. Psssstt . . . Hey, check out this marble . . . it's awesome . . . just let me get the AFM tuned in. lol
  11. This is cool for study and all, but I would never pay a premium for a marble with an extra color that requires 400X magnification to see.
  12. Don, I suppose I should have asked, "which company do you think made them"? I figured they were vintage machine marbles. Is there a black or (dark) red streak in the orange stripe on some, or just thinner orange with base showing through that looks darker in the pics?
  13. Wow, that orange is intensely bright. It sorta makes the base hard to discern in the pics. Where did you find those? Who are you thinking made them?
  14. There's just no substitute for sunlight . . . neat pics, Mike.
  15. Hmmmm . . . http://www.ebay.com/itm/MARBLES-CHRISTENSEN-SUBMARINE-TYPE-CORAL-RIBBON-MINT-/370535866554?pt=Marbles&hash=item5645a8a0ba Not one of my guesses . . . any CA collectors have thoughts on these?
  16. What are the most uncommon? Please show them if you can.
  17. Even nicer in hand. The interesting thing is the way the two color stripes hang together inside the marble - pretty good glass mixing.
  18. Jill Marie, You have to be a little careful focusing only on the "turkey head". I've seen old Alleys that show pretty nice ones.
  19. That's a cool marble too, Winnie. I like the colors. I've been putting these types back for a long time, and I think I've narrowed it down . . . I'm pretty sure they're either Ravions or Champenwoods.
  20. Those are nice looking, Duffy. I like the size too.
