  1. Cased micas have the mica encased under clear on top of the colored base glass so the mica looks silver and doesn't take on the color of the base glass. The mica on this one still looks amber from here.
  2. Nice marbles, I'm not sure but I think "blizzard" has to do with whether or not the mica is cased.
  3. Wow, okay - Vitro Swirls 4 and 5 both look amber to me and they both have thin purple on the white too.
  4. I have always wondered if the Swea' Peas were a particular color combination or just any Akro peewee. Any ideas?
  5. This really is a fine book. The covers, paper, printing, binding and photo reproduction are very high quality. I could offer some criticism, very few things are perfect, but given the behemoth effort this book took and the overall quality of the final product, it's hardly worth mentioning. Kudos to the authors for putting together an excellent reference.
  6. Hmmm . . . now you've got me thinking. Have I ever seen a good red on an Imperial? Not that I recall at the moment.
  7. It's not a swirl, it's just swirly.
  8. A Conqueror variant, IMO.
  9. It'd be a weird Vitro.
  10. This is either the same marble as Vitro 5 Swirl you posted or a very close sibling.
  11. Wow, you're showing some wacky ones today - no particiclar name that I know of,

    7/8 Vitro

A Conqueror variant, IMO - cool patch colors.
  13. That's a crazy one. I can't really figure it out - pinched seams and a deep fold. It looks like it might be a dug Peltier to me.
  14. I'd call it a Conqueror variant.
  15. @Alan I love it when you show the art glass from your collection. You have impeccable taste and your examples are stunning. Thank you very much for sharing them!
  16. @Alan Are those green air trap faces Mathews marbles?
  17. I agree with Vacor - maybe Neptunes.
  18. Wholly machine-made marbles are cut from a stream of molten glass by a shearing mechanism (shears). Each marble has two seams or cut-offs (shear marks), You will find the cut-offs on Popeyes and other spirals on the top and bottom of the spiral.
  19. I think it's a Vacor - Mexican.
  20. Yes, it's a vintage Vitro Bull's Eye.
  21. Those are Akro Popeye's - I prefer to think of their shear marks as cut-offs.
  22. Good "R"s are hard to find . . .
  23. Cowabunga dude, that's funny cool!
  24. The arrow is not part of the marble, if that's what you're asking. The little indented lines are caused by cold glass that doesn't get rolled smooth.
