  1. What about Ravenswood?
  2. Hmmm . . . wild, maybe a dug MK? Maybe an even crazier Heaton?
  3. Wouldn't that be a Superboy - basically, a Superman sans yellow?
  4. Thanks for the link - an interesting read, indeed.
  5. FWIW, I'm not so sure the photos in those pics, even those from Alan, aren't a little over exposed and making the oxblood look lighter than it would it hand.
  6. Thanks Art, I love that Vitro lavender color - it's very distinct, so I just thought I'd show it on a few different types.
  7. I've seen plenty of oxblood and I know for sure that the OP marble is not oxblood. Do you have a good example on a marble? If not, PM your address and I'll send you some.
  8. I think that Glass Firma may produce marbles in several locations other than Mexico. It seems like I recall some facilities in SE Asia somewhere. As for the marbles I posted as "Chinese", I have to admit that I don't really know that for sure, all I really know is that I spotted them on Alibaba, and it wouldn't surprise me a bit if Alibaba sells wares from countries other than just China.

I'd call that last one a Skunk.
  10. I think lighting might have a lot to do with the way that oxblood looks, either that, or it's just a poor example of oxblood.

Ooh, look at the blue coming out on it - it might be even better than a typical Zebra. I think Blue Zebras are a thing but we'll have to let the Pelt Heads weigh in on this one.
  12. Oxblood a very distinct and fairly consistent. That's not to say there isn't some variation, but this is not oxblood. If you've seen someone call something even close to salmon-colored oxblood they were just making stuff up, which happens quite a bit actually, especially on EBay. You just need to get a good example of it in hand and you'll never forget it.
  13. I agree with Art and Bill - many look like Ravenswoods to me. I'd be thinking Alley for that upper right one though - it's the best marble in the bunch, for sure, I'd be happy to see a few more pics of it too!
  14. FWIW, It looks more Pelt than Akro to me.
  15. I think it has too many colors for a DuLite - maybe a TriLite. But it sorta looks more like a slightly odd Type I Tiger Eye that missed out on it's top polar patch. I think the orange and purple maybe should have been the half-and-half equatorial ribbons, and the white, the bottom polar patch. Or maybe it's just my imagination that's getting a little wild.

Gotta do an Art and quote myself because I messed up my OP - It's a really sweet Vitro Blackie - not an All Red of any sort because . . . of course, it would have to have red on it! Sorry, but you gotta give me a senior moment every once in a while!
  17. I think Art might have called the OP marble correctly (Anacortes Vitro) but I think JABO may also be a possibility.
  18. Sure looks Alley to me - nice marble too.
  19. It's a Flicker, IMO. And by the way, that's a great name you came up with!
  20. This reminds me a lot of some of those Vacor/El Aquila marbles we've been seeing lately. It's not giving me an American vibe, not even a little.
  21. It's a cool marble, no doubt, and it's Tiger Eye colors, but I'm trying to figure out what type it was supposed to be because it's a little out of order. So here's my first thought . . . it was supposed to be a Type I with a dark purple patch on the top pole, a white patch on the bottom pole, and half-and-half blue and yellow ribbons around the equator, but it was just too cool for school so it just went rogue and did it's own thing.
  22. This is my understanding, and if you look at some good antique "uranium glass" in bright daylight, even without the sun, it does have a nice "glowing" quality to it.
