Wanna See My Newest Very Favorite Marbles?
MarbleClueless replied to MarbleClueless's topic in General Marble & Glass Chat
Indeed! mordiskul...I found it under the mat -
We love your bald head! Don't misunderstand, everyone we met was very nice to her and I both. We both had a great time. I just thought her observations were interesting and thought others might want to know what her perception was. I think the marble community are some of the best people I have ever met. Many have been very very good to me and mean a lot to me. Therefore, I am not objective.

Greetings!! I just returned from the Vegas show! I LOVE marbles! I was there with my sister of which doesn't share my marble passion even though she does like them. I thought I'd share what my sister said to me. Her comments were not prompted or led by me at all. She may have hear Rich and I talking about this thread, but only in passing and would not have known what we were talking about. She told me she had given the show some thought. She thought everyone she met was very nice. However, her observation was "marble" people very dismissive of the general public. She specifically said the show felt very exclusive to a group and not engaging to new entrants. She had some specific examples of visitors which were apparently not "part of the circuit". As she pointed out, there are few that would ever consider me as timid or easily intimidated. Yet, I did tell her and others the in-room trading and show can be intimidating. She theorized waning interest because (as she so rudely pointed out) the group, as a whole, is fairly mature (hmmm and she is my OLDER sister, I might add). I thought her comments were apropos and thought I would share them. I do want to stress her and I both had a wonderful time. She didn't mean her comments derogatorily as she really enjoyed meeting everyone. Both of us had a fabulous time. I am soo happy I was there and can't wait until I can do it again!!! Thank you!!!

busstafari, I don't think you will get the results on e-bay that you would by working with individuals through this board. Your feedback percent alone is going to reduce the number of bidders you have. Yes, buyers and sellers do have more recourse working through e-bay, in theory. However, I think the members here are less risk than elsewhere. Plus, your description may be giving potential buyers the wrong impression. The marbles are in "new" condition or not. The wording made me think the seller was not actually in possession of the marbles. The marbles are out of my range but they are very nice. A very great find indeed!

Big John, I wish you weren't alone because there are so many of us "virtually" there but its just not the same. Please don't be so hard on yourself about paths you didn't take in the past. Everyone draws energy in different ways. While you were neglecting yourself you may have been nurturing another. Putting yourself last is not the worse personality trait a person can have (except for you). Don't waste your energy on regrets. You can't change the past except but you can change if you let it effect your future. You have been a good friend to many (me) of whom you have never met in person. You are a good person and you deserve the best health care. I am very glad your brother arrived in time. Keep your head high and get the help you need. Don't underestimate the power of positive thinking (I know that may sound trite but I sincerely believe it to be true).

ummm....Ric....you can't be clueless cuz I'm clueless! I have a marble very close to that one but I didn't think it was a Sunset. I might be a little less clueless after others respond.......

It's official (well as official as things get with me). I am so excited. I am going to a marble show!! I have only been to one show. It was in Phoenix. Bo introduced me into the thick of things then. So I feel a bit of a show novice. Well maybe I am a bit of show novice. I won't be there until Friday afternoon-ish. Will that be too late for horse-trading? Or will that be a day late and a dollar short? Any suggestions of what to do and not to do? Thanks for any tid-bits! Suzie

Hiya Steph! I fixed the link in my post (I think). These have been flattened for the jewelry. Sorry killermarbles, I don't have any of these myself. I have to admit I cringed a little when I read her narrative hoping she doesn't happen upon a guinea or something:

Winnie, if you don't want weird ugly marbles I'll be happy to host them here with me. They are great!! Nothing ugly about them IMHO. Thanks for the pics.

I happened across this while perusing for marbles for sale. I thought I'd share. What kind of marbles are these? They are vintage marbles "recycled".... http://www.Marblry.Etsy.com I think I am going to write and invite her to visit our board. Plus, I think I am going to make it to the Vegas show......I'll know for sure this weekend. So excited!! Thank you!!! Suzie

I am so bummed I won't be there. I have been leaning hard on my Dad to go but he's a stubborn ole Missouri Mule. He has about 101 excuses but none of them sound very good to me. Next year can you have it in September so I can come? I am sure you will have a fabulous show and I'm so jealous I could spit!!! Suzie

Greetings From Springfield, Missouri
MarbleClueless replied to Gametech's topic in General Marble & Glass Chat
Hi Pat! I know where Sparta is. Our family has land right past Garrison. I use to love going there and hanging at Swan Creek, too. I picked up some great Indian Swirls in Taneyville one year. I love the Ozarks! I love Arizona and probably won't ever leave here but I sure get home sick sometimes!! -

Gary, I saw your post about the marble show. My mind immediatly started racing on how I could coordinate my vacation around the show. Then I remembered I did drag my significant other to the Ozarks in August one year. I don't much think I can pull that off twice. Not just because its a dry heat here. He has such a habit of finding reason for visiting his kids and grand kids in Utah the higher the mercury climbs. I will let Dad know. I think he will want to come. He and I keep talking about going to a show sometime...and here is our chance! If I can find a decent airfare to pop out I'll do it! -

Greetings from Arizona, Hi, Robert. I am in Arizona but I am a native Show-me-state girl! My Dad & younger brother still live in Nixa. I keep an eye on the area auctions and send Dad if there are marbles. At first he did great. Then more and more he took a liking to the old German swirls. I noticed I received fewer and fewer of the marbles I sent him to check out. Each visit back home I notice his show case is a little more crowded than last. So it is very nice to meet you and I hope Dad doesn't best us both out of the Missouri marbles! Suzie -

MarbleClueless replied to jeroen's topic in General Marble & Glass Chat
I am so glad you mentioned this. I noticed his marbles last night. I don't understand....he can't be serious. Is he trying to make some sort of point? Does anyone know him? http://www.ebay.com/sch/Marbles-/771/i.html?item=280863130737&_trkparms=algo%3DLVI%26itu%3DUCI%26otn%3D5%26po%3DLVI%26ps%3D63%26clkid%3D7698319287069371214&cmd=ViewItem&_ssn=theunpackedrat -

Hi All we lost Art yesterday he will be missed a lot .
MarbleClueless replied to mmuehlba's topic in Marble Friends Memorial
I am in shock. I haven't been browsing lately nor have I been perusing e-bay much. The tonight I saw the news about Alan on ebay. I came here to learn more and now I find out about Art. I am at a loss for words. It hasn't been that long ago we lost Bo. I am so sorry......I may not have touched the lives of these men but they sure have touched mine. Suzie -
Welcome to the addiction! Very nice to meet you. I live in Chandler, Arizona. I tend to be ever or never present. Mom told me the key to life was moderation but I never will know because I can't seem to achieve THAT! Enjoy!!! Suzie

Edna....I was going to post a couple of picture "Bo" things after reading your post.....but since I don't see the flower pot I can drag my feet a couple of more days (whew).... Norma, please check your email. Suz

Thanks for the update. I was there in spirit.

I find both of them annoying but especially Frank. I think it is probably just sheer jealousy, pure green envy. I am surprised they suddenly were into the marbles. Recently they had an episode where a woman said "those are just my old marbles" and Frank bought the Apothecary jar next to them. Of course we don't know what happened off camera but they sure didn't seem interested. I have noticed them passing on things I wouldn't. Not long ago there was an old dresser/chest of drawers they pooh-poohed. I was stunned...they were being rude about it. The piece itself was nothing but the 8 (or more) sandwich glass pulls (knobs) were certainly worth getting. I looked for years (literally) for replacements for a dresser of mine and $45 a piece for the small ones are a bargain. Does anyone know if those guys have a web site? Do they sell on e-bay?

Edna, Please be careful driving! I wish I could join you. I read your story about the first time you met Bo. I met Bo and Mark at the same time, too. Bo had bought a marble of mine on e-bay and I invited him over to look at my marbles (I am sure it must have seemed like a pitful collection but he didn't let on). It is indeed a small world. I am from Missoui and had went to school with Mark's cousin. Actually, my Dad lives in the same rural town as Mark's dad. I have been trying to get my Dad to call Mark's dad but he is so hard of hearing (and stubborn) it has been lost in transation. Last time I talked to Bo he chided me for not having paired them up yet. Does anyone know who Bo collected post cards for? Norma is asking her sisters but I haven't heard yet. Please e-mail me if you know or are the one.
