I've Never Heard Of This, Have You?
Jill Marie replied to VTAndrea's topic in General Marble & Glass Chat
I was gonna bid on it also, even had it on my watch list, but the more I looked at it the blue is not the same as the original blues Peltier made, I just don't match the colors. My thought was that the clears were the same as the opaques in color... but I don't know, so I guess I am posing this as a question... -
Rest In Peace Alan Basinet-"marblealan"
Jill Marie replied to cheryl's topic in Marble Friends Memorial
http://www.collectorsweekly.com/articles/an-interview-with-antique-marble-collector-alan-basinet/ I have never had the wonderful opportunity to meet him, and my only communication was through ebay; but I have some wonderful marbles that will keep him in my memory. I found this wonderful article that he was interviewed for and wanted to share in memory of all his great work in the marble community. THanks Alan, I pray for you Cheryl, his parents, and any family and friends who knew and loved him. May God bless you and grant you peace. Love, Jill Marie -
Just curious, do you think they only came in that yellow/mustard color?

I had such a wonderful time meeting everyone, Thank you all for the Great time and warm Welcome!!!!... I feel it went by sooo fast but what fun we had, and now I gotta take a nap....3 hrs of sleep before a show is not smart! Thanks Jane for everything; she took me under my wing right when I got there even if she didn't mean too...lol! I am gonna take pics later and show you all my goodies too, that way everyone can see what neat things you can find there. Love you all and thanks for all the learning I got too! Now I just gotta find me a torch and some great glass; I already got some ideas of what it should look like if I get the chance....

When I Saw This Picture My First Thought Was Vacor ...
Jill Marie replied to Steph's topic in General Marble & Glass Chat
LOL... now those are some gross marbles you found Steph....you know I once had a dream marbles were falling from the sky, but I don't think that I want them bad enough to pick up any ol' slimy round thing....LOL, thanks for the laugh! -
If you look, the white dings are all in the same place on some mibs, I believe that is light reflection/refraction....sometimes you can miss seeing a great marble because it looks damaged, and it was just light refraction..(some could be dings as well)..that's another reason seeing something in hand is soooo much better than pictures.....on the other hand, some use the advantage of a bad picture to enhance a really bad marble and try and sell it to some poor soul on ebay..... as to identity on these, I have no say; other than I don't know... my first thought was jabo, but I am still learning too.

Alox Marble Bag...what Do They Go For These Days?
Jill Marie replied to Jill Marie's topic in General Marble & Glass Chat
Oh, okay, I see what you are saying, that is sad, and a little crazy someone would take the effort to copy it...Well, I guess they think the little extra money is worth it, and the lack of integrity.... -
I know, Right! 100% ('surf tumbled') my butt....
-
What....I am just starting to getting the hang of the American ones....LOL...now I gotta learn a whole new species of mibs.....so many marbles and not enough brain power....LOL...Help me Obi wan kenobi...your my only hope!

javascript:;K, Back to this again....is it even possible for new marbles to be this 'sea tumbled'....and I think I am most disturbed to the 'Genuine' post...and the bids that are placed on them....He states that they are 100% Authentic & from Puerto Rico....and he has several lots for sale.....So am I crazy? or could there really be this many 'real' sea marbles........Is he for real?! $17.75....am I missing something here? http://www.ebay.com/...d-/41221/i.html

I'm gonna throw a wild guess at Champion or Ravenswood...leaning more toward the latter...

Alox Marble Bag...what Do They Go For These Days?
Jill Marie replied to Jill Marie's topic in General Marble & Glass Chat
Actually it is not, I lived in IL...and a friend of mine got several boxes of these close to St. Louis @ an auction...the originals....Sadly, he has passed away now, and I wanted to help Janet (his wife) out since she still has the boxes... THank you all for your help. -

If you grew up on home cooked meals, rode a bike with no helmet, lived in a house that was not "child-proof", got spanked when you misbehaved, had three TV channels and had to get up to change them, if school started with the Pledge of Allegiance, stores were closed on Sunday and you drank water out of a water hose and still turned out okay, repost this and show that you survived!! Oh oh,... and your lips were pinched for talking too much in class, sat in the corner, and spanked with a 2X4 paddle by your teacher.....boy, we would have been taken away from our class for child abuse if anyone had known.... well, it must not of hurt me too badly, cause i still can talk too much....lol! and Sharon, they more I look at your mib, I don't think it is Vacor...still mmmmmm though; lol!
