As your travel agent, I'm pleased to let you know that I've found a wonderful spot for your Summer vacation this year. Just look at the beautiful scenery!

Don't know for sure, but it seems to be what most people would probably think of as Plexiglass.

'Cubes' were mentioned elsewhere here recently. This post has absolutely no connection with that one. But I think I must have had the word in the back of my brain. So here's a late Saturday photo. ( :

A very cool combination! I don't know how to describe it, but there's 'something' about Akro black. ( :

I don't know this one. It looks like it ought to be really good. ( : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Four_Rooms

I just made a statement (For you younger people, that's kind of like a 'comment'.) in some personal correspondence (Messaging!) that I thought was kind of interesting when I took a second look at it. I more or less said " I have a ten year old 'dumb-phone' because it 'ain't broke'. " This made me remember a situation from a few years ago. A friend of mine's elderly grandmother was being encouraged by her family to buy a nice new car. This woman was worth several million dollars. She thought this was ridiculous, and pretty much refused to talk about it. Her 1962 Plymouth ran just fine! Where did her kids and grandchildren get such silly ideas? At the time, I thought it was the old woman who was being silly. But now I think she knew what she was talking about. The people who really know how to deal with 'the world' are the people who've spent the most time in it. ( :

Like the panorama! I just recently did a little experimenting with this sort of thing, and it's kind of fun. Don't know how Jess put together hers. These days some cameras have a panorama 'setting'. If you, like me, don't have this setting but think you might enjoy making this sort of photo, I'd recommend checking out Microsoft 'ICE'. Apparently this program (also known as 'Image Composite Editor') has been around for a while and has been downloaded gazillions of times, but I never heard about it until recently. It's 'free' and certainly worth many many times that price. (Yes, that made no sense mathematically. Stop being such a 'smarty-pants'!) http://research.microsoft.com/en-us/um/redmond/projects/ice/

Steph, if I'm ever passing through the area at the exact right moment, I'll be happy to go with you. I could probably handle being in a large crowd at the kind of event where people are quiet a lot of the time. And my frayed nerves have always enjoyed the soothing voices of the golfcaster people. (Although Jess is now giving me some concerns that I could wind up 'hitting the dirt' screaming "Incoming!") Jessica, the green marbles are great! They look like they're under a black light even though they're apparently not. ( :

Police On Guard To Stop Marble Heist!!!!!
kbobam replied to Killermarbles's topic in General Marble & Glass Chat
I don't 'know' cats as well as some of you here do. The fact that I am one is irrelevant. I don't 'know' myself. But I love the combination of 'total dedication' and 'complete indifference' here! -
Is There Such A Thing As A Sparkler Corkscrew?
kbobam replied to Steph's topic in General Marble & Glass Chat
I've never checked these people out before. Are they mostly dealing with pretty expensive marbles? I'm asking because I was just looking at their info about 'bid increments'. In the 'stratosphere' brackets, they seem reasonable. But the $25 increment for $0.00 - $499.99 seems a little 'awkward' at the lower end of that range. -
North Dakota! Oh no! You people are crazy! JUST KIDDING! Having a little fun with another ND friend here I'm very fond of. Glad to have you here. I think you'll enjoy it!

I don't really have any experience with this sort of thing. But my gut reaction is that the marble seems to have a good number of bubbles close to the surface. So I'd guess that there would be things that look like blow-holes if any significant polishing was done. ( :

Please Fill This Thread Up With Akro Oxbloods
kbobam replied to Steph's topic in General Marble & Glass Chat
A forum of Akro oxbloods can only be a wonderful thing. And it has been! And I'm sure I'm not the only one here enjoying and appreciating all the great contributions. But I'm really curious about the mysterious JABO. Is it from the (one of my personal favorites) Oxblood/Aventurine series? And are you interested in seeing Akro marbles that might be similar 'overall', or are you looking at the oxblood variations specifically? Or something else that my deteriorating brain isn't thinking of? ( : -
Really liking these last two photos. Gametech's is outrageous with both the lighting and the viewpoint, and Lloyd kicked butt letting those dark and distinct branches go out of focus. ( :

I haven't been able to get into the right mind-set to continue my grandfather story. So I'm just going to give it to you straight. When I first visited my 'second' set of grandparents, they took us out for breakfast. This was completely insane to me. Who the heck does that? I was confused by the whole thing and didn't know what to do. But granddad said "I bet you'd like the chocolate chip waffles!" (Waffles with chocolate chips? Are you bleeping bleeping me?) When I first took a bite of them, I would have to say that I was in a state of ecstasy that has never been surpassed in my later life. Equaled, maybe. Don't think I'd like chips in waffles now. A little bit excessive. And I haven't had waffles in decades. But I think I'd love them with the 'real' versions of Wisconsin butter and Vermont maple syrup.

Perfume commercials are notoriously stupid. Humble opinion. Was just now 'listening to' and watching the best one ever made. ( : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=52Z5ob-6jNI

Thanks. The brown bottle is pre-1939, because sometime in 1938 a 7up higher-up said "Hey! Why do we have eight bubbles on the label? There should be seven!" And that's how it's been ever since. ( :

Just made a post in the non-lounge area where I used the words "...and other things." This reminded me of another all-time favorite song. Most of us usually think of it as 'The Flower Girl' song, but the proper title is the more complicated "The Rain, The Park, and Other Things". I get so depressed sometimes. But remembering 1967 and the Cowsills makes me happy. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yi0CqIeLjkQ

You have to like the very clean and distinct design of this one. Just like certain black and white photographs, the lack of so-called color sometimes gives a person more appreciation for shape and other things. And the single 'gray' stripe in this marble really makes it special in my humble opinion!

Mind-blowing photo of wonderfully outrageous Davis glass! If you don't give this the good long look it deserves, you might not realize that there isn't one single 'marble' here. ( :

It's been a long time, so hopefully a repost is okay.

You know, none of these are really all that bad. They're all kind of appealing in their own way. I'll never forget the day I realized that women are actually capable of looking at a guy and thinking 'He's so ugly that he's kind of cute!' This gave me a wonderful sense of 'hope'! I guess these two marbles aren't really that terrible either. I've always called them my "Akrocities". And I'm realizing now, as we speak, that the ID might not be correct. But I can't resist the rhyme/pun. The one on the right looks much more 'egg-shaped' in hand. It also has fractures and cloudy patches. But somehow it always looks halfway decent in photos. I have a couple of good friends who also have this quality. They're pretty normal-looking in person, but they always look like professional models when someone takes a picture of them. There's a small part of me which secretly hates them for this. ( :

Recently, one of my ABC 'sub-stations' magically transformed into 'Laff TV'. This has been a good thing for my personal tastes. They play a lot of otherwise unavailable older comedy sit-coms which I really enjoy. But I can't let this get in the way of my professional obligations! Lloyd, as your attorney, I think their 'catch-phrase' (shown with their logo, below) is way too close to your traditional 'closing comment' in posts here. And I'm not going to rest until I get you the compensation you deserve!

The description sounds even more misleading than the name! ( :
