OMG! She's not considering getting a Mac, is she? Just kidding, and thanks for the info. Am currently in one of those periods where I have to reboot every day, or risk losing something important right in the middle of it. Maybe joining the 'core' wouldn't be a bad thing. But it's scary. On the other hand, if Edna did decide to learn a new 'language' she'd probably get it done overnight! ( :

Ha! So there really is a 'lake trout'! In the Baltimore area you see lake trout for sale all over the place. But we smarter guys know that there's no such thing and that it's just generic fried white fish. Thanks for clicking my knowledge up a notch. Nice fish!

O---M---G!!! So I guess the 'Beer and Brats' surprise party we all planned for you wasn't the best idea, huh? ( :

Here's the stuff which leads me to the conclusion that Steph is a Secret Siamese Satay fiend! (I am too.) For those who aren't familiar, satay is a Thai dish which is basically 'meat on a stick'. So far so good, right? But it comes with a warm thick peanut sauce that's out of this world. You definitely 'dip'. The stuff on the side is cucumber and onion pieces which are soaked in vinegar. It's highly recommended that you skewer at least a piece of each along with your meat, which is generally available in pork, chicken, and beef varieties. Although this dish is considered an 'appetizer' when part of a proper meal, Thai people also appreciate the idea of making a meal out of many many appetizers. This is a beautiful thing. But if you take this approach, it will be assumed that your table also wants the double-sized bottles of Thai beer to keep on coming. As I said, a beautiful thing. Pretty sure that if you like beer you'll agree with me that theirs is among the finest in the world. Making myself hungry and thirsty so will stop now. ( :

After reading this response, I decided to take a break and let my subconscious figure out how to reply. While doing so, I watched today's recording of 'Gilmore Girls' and this magic moment in time happened. I think it's a perfect visual addition to the previous post. ( :

I'm not sure if this is funny or not! Or both!

Ha! I hadn't gone past the opening page earlier. They do have a 'Tomato Ketchup' flavor! Also 'Worcester Sauce', and 'Canadian Ham'. They all sound pretty good really. Not sure about that 'Beefy' flavor, though. Putting meat and potatoes together is just a little bit too preposterous.

Watching a 'Brit-com', and 'prawn crisps' were mentioned. Thought that was kind of interesting, since I've never heard anyone at the deli asking for shrimp flavored chips with their sandwich. Although in the Baltimore-Annapolis area 'Old Bay' is popular. Did a little research and it looks like it's a traditional British flavor, along with a few other neat ones we don't often see in the States. ( : If anyone wants to share their favorite chip flavor, I'll start off with malt vinegar. That goes for fries too. First time I tried that I abandoned ketchup forever.

I'm betting you love Thai food! (Assuming that the 'naughty tee-hee' smiley can also double as a 'yum' one.)

(Would have preferred a less serious-sounding title, but think it's the right way to go.) Just saw a new television ad from the condom people, and thought it was great. The scene has no real explanation, just a couple of 'naturists' if you will, who look like they're doing some Sunday shopping at the local farmer's market. By my standards, it was very light-hearted and fun, and I'll be happy if this ad helps shift our advertising a little bit more in the direction of Europe and most of the rest of the world.

A thanks to m!b$ for the new post, which reminded me that I needed to come back here and try the link again. Worked perfectly this time, and I really enjoyed the shots that didn't come-through before. Although I'm not sure about the one which included both a black cat and marbles. Can't imagine Steph enjoying that one either!
-
I don't remember if you're a dog, cat, or general critter-person. Although this pup would probably be hilarious to any of them! And Steph, the kamouflage kitty immediately hit me as something I had to print for my ninety-something (we've both lost track) neighbor. She thought it was 'frame-worthy'! ( :

Hey Winnie! Is the marble you showed here the one you were talking about posting in the other 'pink' thread? It's very nice in a pastel kind of way, but as you've pointed out, it's definitely on the girly/baby side. Only asking because the interesting thing to me about Mike's marble in the other post was that the pink was so outrageous that it was even appealing to us testosterone-laden knuckle-dragging types.
-
Hey Mike! I'm blown away by the whole video concept here! Have always had problems showing marbles in a way that gives people who know more than I do a good view from all sides. I usually just get one shot I think looks 'best' and leave it at that. Although you've also done a great job with the multiple 'stills', the rotating marble with occasional shifts in position is brilliant! ( :

I'm pretty sure there are separate forums/threads here somewhere on this subject. But it's been a while, so if you'll forgive me for just starting over, here's a scene from a recent 'Bob's Burgers' episode. It involved a spoof on ridiculous game-shows. In this case, one team-mate has to scoop marbles into the 'brain' of the other. Silly as it may be, it's always nice to see marbles used in popular media. It reinforces my belief that almost everyone loves marbles. Some of them just don't 'know' it yet. ( :

Well I Must Be The Only One That Likes Pink
kbobam replied to mmuehlba's topic in General Marble & Glass Chat
Always nice to get a deal on a group where every marble has 'character'! Usually you wind up with a couple throw-aways that were included for 'volume'. The hot pink is definitely outrageous. Like the contrast between colors there. ( : -
They're great! Some didn't come through, so I'll try again later. ( :

So here's the latest Dollar-Tree blog-like thing! Virginia sausages from the Williams company. These are some fat honking sausages, and really good. Look how red they are! You know they're going to kill you, so they have to be great! Cook them over moderate heat for a long time and they'll get a nice 'snap' to the casing. The snap is a crucial thing, and also why New York hot dogs are so good even though they really aren't. They'll also halfway explode at some point, which makes for a more dramatic presentation. Next is some parmesan cheese. This is another terrific bargain, since it's tasty and your name-brands of this product are so ridiculously expensive that you might as well go all the way and get a hunk of real cheese and grate it yourself. Let's face it. What most of us think of as parmesan cheese is a seriously processed 'product'. But it's perfect with certain dishes, and I certainly like having it around, but don't want to be ripped off. Please make note of the size. Sometimes Dollar Tree offers larger sizes of another brand. Not worth it. Wishing you happy eating, belching, and a noisy word, Bob

Ebay Plug. Super Rare Box Goes On Tonight!
kbobam replied to zaboo's topic in General Marble & Glass Chat
This one should be exciting for all involved! Have to admit that I haven't stopped by for a while. Really glad I did. So let me add a fan-club plug, and suggest that no one ignore the 'zaboo's auctions' link shown above. Lots of exciting stuff going on right now. ( : -
Nicely put, and cool glass. Had to look it up. Only have a few Akro pieces because of my marble 'thing'. Otherwise don't know much. Didn't see your green color, but bet it's pretty great. 'Greens' used to be better. In most cases this is because of paint with lots of lead in it. Although that doesn't apply here. Or maybe it does. Lead works well with glass too. ( :

Yes, it was the Golden Rebel I was thinking about. Did you ever see the topic here when some of us were talking about having a particular affection for slightly beat-up marbles? Particularly shooters. I won't deny that as a poor person I like the fact that less-than-perfect marbles can be had for a price I might be able to justify. But honestly, there really is a sort of 'Hallmark Channel movie' appeal to marbles which lead the life they were meant to! Here are a couple shooter 'Muddies'. 15/16. They're definitely among my favorites of all time. I really don't think I'd like them as much if they were mint.

Thanks for responding, Mike! It was 'funny guy' (Mean that in a good way! There are videos!) marbleseeker who posted the second-to-last 'plug' and I was thinking about that one. Sorry about that. But I really like the Superboy and John Deere you're showing now. And am in 'respectful awe' of your brutal honesty in the Deere auction. Have always kept an eye out for one of these, and seen many marbles not nearly as overall nice as yours described in much more glowing terms. You're the kind of seller we all want to deal with. ( :
