Who's Going To Northeast Marble Show (Marlborough)
BobBlock replied to romanoak's topic in General Marble & Glass Chat
We had a great show yesterday. I'll post some images in a little while. I haven't gotten a final count from Bert yet, but I'm estimating that there were about 200-225 that walked through the door, maybe a little more. A lot of faces I haven't seen there before. Finally got to meet idigjars! Yea! -

No pictures. No absentee bidding. According to Bert, you have to be there. The above is the only portion of the listings that he would release. -

Info About A Peliter Bag National G Rainbo Agates
BobBlock replied to mmuehlba's topic in General Marble & Glass Chat
They are all hand drawn. There are some printing blocks of some of these floating around. -
Not likely. The hue of the color tends to change when machine mades are polished and these are the right hue. Plus Kathy (oldnurse) is pretty good at describing what she's selling. Why would you even bother polishing these unless they were large shooters?

BobBlock replied to smitty's topic in General Marble & Glass Chat
Steve puts on a great auction. If you're anywhere near the area and collect marbles, you should go. -
34th edition of the Northeast Marble Meet will be held on October 12-13 in Marlborough Massachusetts. There's a marble auction on Saturday, which Bert Cohen is running, and then a Marble Show on Sunday that I am managing. Room trading on Saturday. The Marble Meet website is at www.marblemeet.com There are less than half dozen tables unreserved, so if you want a table, reserve one at the website above, or contact me. If you want to consign items to the auction, or you more information about the auction, then contact Bert at [email protected]

Hadn't CAC stopped producing by 1931? -
The term Transitional first originated in print in one of the early Castle and Peterson books (though it had been thrown around at marble shows for a few years before that). I carried the nomenclature over into the Price Guide and the Early American Machine Mades books. Obviously we know a lot more now than we did 25 years ago, but unfortunately the name and category has stuck.

Someone had about a half dozen, but this was the only design I didn't have already. -

Ric, I'm not sure if your ceramic questioned was meant for me. The one I show there was made by Nadine Macdonald about 2001. -

My main display cabinet also has paperweights, chinese snuff bottles and Steuben. They all co-exist peacefully. I do have another display cabinet for my mineral collection, it's a little ornery so it needs to be separated from everyone else.

I've mentioned this before somewhere, but my license plate is MARBLS. When I used to have my PO box in Trumbull, there was a guy that I used to run into at the Post Office who's license plate was TRAINS. I used to tell him that all we needed was someone with the license plate DOLLS and we could open a toy shop.

This seller has been selling the Bulgarian stuff for a while now. I was contacted recently by someone trying to consign this stuff to me. Claimed it was marbles he had inherited from his grandfather, blah blah, yadda yadda. I pointed out to him that the pics he sent me looked just like the Bulgarian junk and when I drilled down into his email address it was registered in Bulgaria. Never heard back from him. Be careful out there.

I had similar problems with Ebay Shipping. Buyer bought a book. She was registered in Australia and but wanted me to ship to an address in UK. Ebay Global would only ship to the registered address. I tried to ship it directly to her, but she wouldn't pay more than the shipping shown on Ebay Global (which netted me the amount to ship in the US). I ended up trying to cancel the sale and she left me a negative feedback. Complained to Ebay and they said it was my fault for not shipping to her registered address. I've opted out of Ebay Global shipping now, it's not worth the hassle.

Sent a package to New Hampshire last week (from Connecticut). It didn't show up on tracking for about 5 days and yesterday it was taking in the sights of Santa Clarita California. Go figure.
