The listed ended early. I've bought two marbles from this seller so far. Both described in the mid-9s. The first had several subsurface moons on it, so I would have graded it in the mid to upper 8s. The other was a buffed surface, with sparkles remaining. I won't be bidding on his marbles any longer.

Is that an African Cro or a European Cro?

I think these have been described in the past as antique drapery weights. Attached to the bottoms of drapes to hold them in place

IMHO the carnival story is just another ruse thought up for Ebay buyers because their prior stories were getting old. This one will run its course and then they'll think up something else.

I thought Peltier Bananas were the first catseyes? Also, there are catseyes, pictured as in a 1951(?) Sports Illustrated and identified as being German (?) from Sellers Peltier's collection.

Richard has been polishing for about 20 years. The earliest "cullet spheres" that started appearing about 20 years ago were made by him.

First row, first two are Alley aventurines. The third is an Alley too (I think?) Bottom row is a comic, and then two lemonade/limeade hybrids.

I love Melon Balls, so I bought all the Mint ones I could find.

1-1/8". Two-Panel Onionskin with nice mica on it. Dead Wet Mint.

Unsigned Lundberg Studios Globe. 2-1/8"

1-7/16". Has one tiny subsurface moon on it, otherwise Wet.

Three bronze, one silver. And a nice pinback.

Complete set in a repro box (#48). The marbles were all Mint.

I bought 3 of these Hero/Unique boxes. Each is a different color combination on the white.

I buy all my aquarium filters on Ebay. Cheapest source if I buy in bulk.

I ran into Brian yesterday morning at Brimfield (bought a bunch of boxes and medals from him, I'll post images later) and we had a long chat about grading. Prior to the last auction, he had to grade the items on-site at Morphy's and would try to grade 700 lots or so in one or two days. Those of you who have catalogued auctions or who sell on Ebay will realize that this is an impossible task. Starting with the last auction, he takes a portion back to Ohio and grades the marbles in a more leisurely manner.

So, there's a little local auction house about 10 minutes from my office. Pretty much estate cleanouts and that sort of stuff. They post images for their upcoming auctions online and I make a habit of once a week just taking a quick look through to see what they have coming up that week. Friday I was just about to leave the office and I figured I'd take another quick look at what they were selling the next day, because I could always stop in on my way home and leave an absentee bid. I pull up their auction and they had added additional items in the two days since I had last looked. Including a box lot of 4 Christensen Agate boxes and assorted jars of marbles. Wow! You'll rarely find one CAC box out in the wild, but to find 4 in the same lot was unbelievable. So, I drove over real quick and left a bid. And won!! Here's an image of one of the 4 boxes. They are all the same.

Wade, not for a couple of months. Too busy at work. lstmmrbls, I didn't think I was being disparaging. Craig asked a question, I confirmed what he wanted to know and added the additional piece of compensation information. It's a fact, not an opinion. You, of course, can interpret my motives any way you see fit, but I fail to see how my response was disparaging in any way. The term I used for the model is what it is called in the real world. It's the same term we use to describe the compensation system for the physicians and clinicians we employ where I work.

That is correct . He also does acquisitions and gets a % of the commission on the items he brings in. An eat what you kill compensation model.
