  1. Specifically, the large corks and patches that are 1-1/8". Not just any large cork or patch in that specific hue of color
  2. Condolences to Lonnie's family. I was lucky enough to spend some time visiting with him at the February Canton show this year. RIP
  3. Hate to burst your bubble but FAO Schwarz is owned by Toys R Us, and they have only been at their current location since the mid-1980s. I doubt there's much NOS in the basement :-( Having been in their store in Manhattan a number of times over the past couple of decades, they have only had Mega and Imperial in their marble section, not even Marble King (or Jabo).
  4. Also at the risk of help forgers produce better boxes, it would be nice to see magnified images of the label (to determine the printing method used) and also magnified images of the inside and outside box corners (to determine construction). Forget the marbles, anyone can throw marbles in a box. Also, the Hardy box paper covering the cardboard is different than the box in question.
  5. You outbid me on the 67 hole board! I got the other big one. The magic square was interesting. I've seen a few 3x3's, I even have one. The last one that sold on Ebay was in England and sold for almost $1,000 with the 9 marbles. I can only think of a couple of 4x4s I've ever seen, and I've never seen one with the complete set of marbles. I was surprised at the lutz prices. They've been soft lately, and most of these were anything but soft, especially considering the number of lutzes they had. But you're right, it's hard to bid the big bucks if you can't see them in hand.
  6. I got the magic square board for my collection and picked up a few things for resale
  7. I've telling people for years that unless you watched the marbles put into Grandpa's attic and then you sat there and watched the box since 19whatever, you really have know way of knowing how old those marbles are.
  8. Sorry, I sent them back without imaging them. I won't take remelts on consignment. I have one in a box somewhere here, that I bought as an example. I'll try and find it today and take some images
  9. If you go to My Ebay and then Summary and then Purchase History, you can leave feedback by clicking on the item you bought
  10. I'm working on a project and need an artist who works in watercolors who has done illustrations of marbles and previously had them published. If you know anyone, please have them contact me at [email protected] Thanks.
  11. I have a bunch of these as well. I bought them in Amana in the late 1980s or early 1990s. The story I was told, as Steph mentioned above, is that they were dug at a dump site in Shanghai and bought at a flea market there.
  12. I think Rolf Wald made some cubes in the past.
  13. As lstmmrbles said, remelts are difficult to identify in many instances, but you usually do see the tiny air bubbles under the surface at the spots were original damage existed, and you see the pattern of concentric rings around the marble. The other thing to look for is certain pattern around the bottom pontil where the glass was feathered when creating the pontil. I had two remelts come in over the weekend in a consignment and I'll image the pontil of one later and post it.
  14. I'd still like to see documented evidence of a Canadian manufacturer
  15. I meant in the last post that it came from a US seller, who is usually pretty reliable in what they sell
  16. They're starting to appear in the secondary market now. I bought a marble off of Ebay recently that looked ok in the images (they weren't the best images in the world, but it looked interesting). When it got here, it turned out to be a Bulgarian.

    Agates

I've heard that if an agate has hit marks on it from playing, you can put it in a can of Crisco overnight and they heal. I've never tried it, but that's what the old time players say.
  18. The video was shown at the Enfield (CT) library in July last year. Red was there talking about marble playing and I did a presentation on marble collecting. I also had a marble exhibit set up in the library for the month of July.
  19. Picked this marble up in Vermont last weekend. 1-3/4" diameter, nice and Mint. Going right in my showcase,I love my onionskins.
