Is This One New Or Old Please?

Not green, it's clear

Thanks Ric, I don't know much about these either. The core seems to be yellow with orange. If it is lobed, there appears to be six. The core appears to be somewhat shrunken. It is 1-1/32". Original surface. Mint. I plan to list it, but I need to know more about it. Thanks for any help. Burt

Introducing Jabo Joker Premium Marble Run
bermar replied to bermar's topic in General Marble & Glass Chat
Still looking for the bottom of the box. For the second part of this run we used a transparent vaseline base on which to apply our colors. Here are a few examples. -
On Sunday June 13, 2010, the Jabo Joker Team produced their newest experimental marble run. Using 39 different striking glass colors, we completed what we believe to be among our finest runs. These Jabo Joker Premium marbles feature an advance in pattern as well as multiple new color combinations, along with Black, Green, and Blue aventurine. I just started sorting, here are a few off the top of the box.

Nice run, Ed, they are beauties.

Have they been made yet?

The New Jabo Joker Hybrid Run Completed.

Just finished grading a box and am more impressed than before. The aventurine is amazing. Thanks for looking. Burt -
David, There is no second run of Joker II and no third run of Joker III. Each run has its own distinct name, characteristics, and date. Burt

I did not hear anyone say how the machine would be used in the future. My assumption is that it is a privately owned machine. All information would have to be secured from the owner.

This is a very interesting and gratifying report. I saw the Alox machine when it first arrived at Jabo and was eager to see what it could do. I was there the day after the run and saw the marbles. As you may be able to see in the above pictures, the aging rollers are a little rough and will need some smoothing work. The marbles have a minor "orange peel" surface that will be easily remedied. It's a great success story. Congratulations on the revival of an important part of the marble story. Burt

The New Jabo Joker Hybrid Run Completed.
bermar replied to bermar's topic in General Marble & Glass Chat
One excellent run for each of 4 quality groups. -
Just opened two boxes. These are from the first two handfuls out of the boxes. More to come. New to this Wednesday, April 28 run, is a change in color combinations and the advance in the use of Blue, Green, and Black Aventurine. Dave confirmed that this is the first time Black Aventurine has been used at Jabo, Inc. We attempted to combine the best features of all the previous Joker runs and to add the Black Aventurine, and came out with the Hybrid. I commend all who have produced experimental runs. They all have their beautiful features. The Jabo Joker Hybrid run now joins all the others. Thanks for looking. Burt

Question For A Math Calculations Guru
bermar replied to roany poany's topic in General Marble & Glass Chat
Great thread, however you might want to double check the above calculation. I get 7.994961064 1/2 in. mibs to equal one 1 in. mib. :-) The difference might have to do with the weather. -
Is your basket full yet, Clyde? Better hurry, only 34 days left till Easter. Burt

Quick pictures. Hopefully better pics later. In addition to Ed, any interest may be directed to Rick Hall, Al Sumner, Ron Shepherd, Bill Kaiser, and Burt Wilkins also. Thanks for looking. Burt

Thanks Art, See ya there. Thanks Mark, for the info. Burt

Just came in and I know very little about most handmades. This Amber mica seems to be "flooded" with mica. It's 1 3/8". One pontil mark is evident and the other is there but very smooth. The amber makes the mica appear almost gold. The mica is near the surface. The core is bubble-filled and has a filament core. Does the abundance of mica affect the value up or down? I don't believe I've seen one with this much coverage of mica. Thanks for any help. Burt

Yep, that's it. This one doesn't appear to be the same marble as pictured in your first one.

Thank you David, you sound like a politician. I don't know who made them either. Thank you semdot, we will just have to go on wondering. Burt
