I agree with Stephen. Peltier Dragon. An NLR. As a side note, I think the seam arrangement is what has been called a "Type III". Do the ribbons form one continuous loop, like the stitching on a baseball? Instead of forming two separate rings? That's not a common pattern.
  2. Al, do you go to that show? What can you say about the vintage marbles there? @Al Oregon
  3. Hi there. There is an Orange County Marble Show in Fullerton. Tends to happen in the first part of the year. Would that be doable for you?
  4. Here's mine. ANCO bottle with a blue marble. I think mine's newish. I'm okay with that.

    Yes, I think it's a Tri-Lite.
  6. I don't remember ever finding marbles at a thrift store. I bought a couple of articles of clothing and a bookshelf at Goodwill today. The clothes cost more than I would expect at a thrift store, but less than new and I liked them. Goodwill gets a bad rap for how they use their money but I gather it's a regional problem and a friend of mine worked at the local Goodwill so I give them the benefit of the doubt and occasionally shop there. I usually shop at St. Vincent de Paul (a Catholic chain) or a big store downtown which seems not to be part of any chain. I have no idea where any of the money goes. Maybe some day I'll ask.

    My vote is Vitro.
  8. That's tricky. Looks almost solid color. The dents are like the cold rolls on your black and white swirl. Marble wasn't quite hot enough to get fully rounded when it went down the rollers. I don't have a guess on maker.
  9. Does it have an iridescent finish? If so then maybe Vacor Starfish. https://www.billes-en-tete.com/detail.php?id=247
  10. (But for the record, what Vacor called a Confetti is more of a cat's eye. They had different names for their frit marbles.) https://www.billes-en-tete.com/detail.php?id=71
  11. With the multi-color speckles on white, I am going to guess Asian. But I won't swear it's not Vacor. Definitely "foreign".
  12. Hi Edward, welcome. Single colored marbles are tough. But I think I might be seeing signs of the marbles being modern and Asian. (Tiny little u-shaped or v-shaped cutlines on the poles can be a sign of modern, Asian.)
  13. No "pontil". Pontils are on handmade marbles (or at least handgathered ones). This marble is completely handmade. The crease is a "cold roll". From where the glass was just a little bit too cool to be completely rounded as the marble went down the rollers. It might be a Vacor Zebra. https://www.billes-en-tete.com/detail.php?id=70
  14. There is a 1973 book called A History of Glass in Japan, by Dorothy Blair, which briefly mentions marbles. I saw it in a "snippet" view on Google Books. I didn't see the years but was after "when electricity came into use".
  15. I found the article with the offensive language. Be warned, it's bad. It is the April 15, 1907 issue of The Mixer and Server. The relevant quote from near the end of the article is, "Japanese glass marbles of much beauty sell for a cent apiece, . . . " https://books.google.com/books?id=25GfAAAAMAAJ&pg=RA3-PA3
  16. It's truly blue in hand. If there's a second color it would be white. I guess I better work on taking better pictures.
  17. I got some decent pictures of some glowing Marble Kings. Thought I'd share. Feel free to add. Well, fairly decent. These looked blue in my photo viewer on my computer, but they're coming across as purple to me on the screen now. Anyway, it's blue in person. Pretty sure they're modern. Would be sweet if it really was purple, eh? Here's the ordinary light photo, with all the blues. Most didn't glow.
  18. Sorry! You're right! I'm wrong! I'm naughty. The best clairvoyants will just call you to make an appointment, and since they know they're such high demand, they will have staff to call the people they can't see, so that the people they can't see won't languish in doubt and can go seek help in other venues! Right?
  19. If I ever get caught at a karaoke joint and put on the spot, I'll say yes! This will be my song.
