Going To Canton Looking For A New Home.
mon replied to lstmmrbls's topic in General Marble & Glass Chat
Oh, not meant to slam your mibs and I too once thought like you. I was just pointing out pure & honest eyes judging beauty side-by-side. Sounds like, for you, it's a hobby so one can separate financial classes within...! Are these new marbles cheaper or inferior....will one outlast the other? They are cheaper$$$, complex and prettier.. The rest of your post needs no comment but reminds of a saying..... the higher a monkey climbs the more his ass you see -
Going To Canton Looking For A New Home.

I put out some mibs in a nice case on my coffee table to see if anyone would check them out and which ones would get their attention. The new jabo's got all the ooohs and ahhhhs........cac's and others received a few "that's nice". Put those pics of Mountain mibs next to galen's haul and ask someone with no knowledge of mibs, which is prettier.... Why spend hundreds when in reality, these new mibs are prettier than 99.9% of vintage machine made mibs? Cause we know better? -

can you move that paper? is the table all scratched up? i would like a pick of the legs..........i'm very interested! -
yes! thanks mibs$!

I've never bitched to anyone or had a bad time at any show, period. Good god, what are you folks reading? As far as putting on a show, I'm sure it's lots of hard work.
-
Now we are leeches???????? This leech recently had his drive back topped to the tune of 28k. The 3 man grading crew did a great job and tipped each a hundred dollars. Then the 7 man paving crew received the same. I honestly had no clue that a $35 was this big of an issue! I will not attend another show because of this thread but, if I did, I would be more that happy to pay now that I know. It is such CRAP that smitty insults unknowing good people and he is the victim. Hope you make it smitty and just ignore these idiots that don't like to be called tightasses and assholes. Who needs them anyways? I'm sure it will make you a better person in your god's eyes!
-
I hope most teach their children better than this! It doesn't matter who or what position you hold that makes you more or less accountable. It's not about smitty being the best or leaving so, get a grip! If it's the same Chuck, he is a very fair and nice guy!!! ......I sold him a big slag that went into his collection at the WV show. If I came here and posted that he ripped me off and was a tightass, would you all have my back? We agreed on a price but I felt a donation to the "doug fund" is WHAT HE SHOULD DO! I'm also a great guy and just the best!!!!! My father lived through the Great Depression and worked like a man from the age of 6 behind a team of horses. His mother scared him with their financial trouble that effected him his whole life. Some may have seen him as being a tightass but I understood. When he gave, it was a gift with no strings and if he sold, everyone involved knew the price. I would have no problem with smitty's statement if it was a known standard to buy a table and someone slipped out the back door. Sissy, buying is also a part of the show and feel all that attend should pay the same price ~a~
-
1stm, read all the posts....I do buy and support but just can't buy a table! Do you get it, or should I not attend at all????????? Grow some balls and admit that it was not the best thing to say! Big deal, or go on saying it's ok for smitty to call names and put down people because he's justified! Kind of a double standard! WV show had the heart beat of Michael Jackson and more people in rooms were needed. If room trading holds no value to the show just have Sat. show and see how many want to attend. think about it........aaaaaah
-
naysaying...who was the naysayers? When you feel that you've tried to support marbles and the shows only to find out negatives are stowed upon you, it sucks! I'm sure smitty has done way more than most but it does not give him the right to post his original statement without a backlash! You list many great ideas and enjoyed MOST of your thread! People find somebodies marbles every day and come to places like this to learn more. Then read old and new threads and run like hell if they have any sense! Rip-offs, fakes, low ball PM's and not validating the obvious........just lost a prospect in this marble collecting field.
-
Yes, but I know it is customary to do so! Do you get it? Tell me in advance the cost to attend your show and not be grouped in the, up till now, unknown "tightass" category and then I will decide. But don't assume I'm thinking what kind of tip to leave when I've spent a mint golden rebel just to walk through the doors and give action to your show.
-
smitty....I never knew that renting a table was mandatory to be seen as a supporter! I've bought t-shirts, bagged marble and other stuff put out by the organizers.....guess that doesn't count! I've spent a lot of money to attend these shows and then get back-handed by you......that stinks! It use to be mostly collectors but now it's pickers who want nothing but dead mint marbles at less that wholesale prices. Duffy...I'll mis seeing you but I've attend my last show!
-
mc marbles......you don't think that wining about someone attending the show and not buying a table is bad for the hobby? Is it about the marbles? If anyone makes me out to be tightass" for something I don't know, your going to get my side! Like it or not! If you don't find joy or reward in running a show, quit!
-
I've attended approx. 10 shows and never rented a table. To think the organizers assume I'm a "tightass" is unsettling! I thought it was a positive to lose money in travel, room rental, eating out, buying and selling in support of marble collecting. People may never meet your expectations if they are not aware of them in advance and this is the 1st I've heard of this. I think you should draw numbers for every table renter to take turns for every "parking lot walk-in" to buy their marbles. This is due to the expensive advertising they are paying for. Is this advertising about getting a marble collector to the show? Where do you advertise? Also, I think it's pompous for you to judge people attending YOUR show without knowing their reason for leaving and/or not renting a table! P.S. I'm not showing fake concern!

You stated that not all 2 seamers have the s pattern or is it your confusion again? I'll leave it at that....peace, love and do it again
-
Not hammering but trying to understand! You posted in 2011 as to correct me "Just like regular CAC 2 seamers they do not all have the S pattern". OK, I'll believe that you have ID'ed some 2 seam CAC's not having the "S" trait. So, I recently posted about this trait and modified my 1st hand knowledge by saying "MOST CAC's 2 seamers have an "S' trait. Then, I read your above post here that you have "Never seen a CAC 2 seamer with straightish lines on both sides of the marbles". Do you see my attempt to contribute?
-
Thanks for pointing out this reason for voting torched! I see the bubbles following the color and it does look odd. I got trapped on that pole shot.....it looked cool.
-
Marble King all the way IMO. The lack of loops or Ss between the end of the seams spell Marble King to me. Never seen a CAC 2 seamer with straightish lines on both sides of the marbles. Here are some typical side shots. ?????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
-
If it's real...lol Then this one's torched with all the tiny bubbles? http://www.ebay.com/...#ht_1685wt_1243 For the sake of time, I used this auction as opposed to taking and posting pics of my snakes/augers with tiny bubbles.

EVER!!!!!!! IMO.......EBAY 261017424376

with that "hook", I would say yes on the corkscrew.
